It is still early days for me but the main two things I have found are:

-Second gen added a lume pip to the rotating bezel assembly (Gen 1 had a red arrow instead)

-Crown was changed to have vertical groove to make using it easier. Apparently they changed something about the construction as well to minimize some kind of "collapsing crown" issue that apprently affected some gen 1 X-33s...

Some interesting tidbits about my X-33...

-This was part of a group buy for a squadron (as many X-33s were) and all the one in this buy came just like mine. Gen II with a Gen I crown. I do not know if the purchaser specified this or if this happened during the switchover from Gen I to Gen II.

-My X-33 has been to Omega twice. The previous owner was a naval pilot; then a commercial pilot. This thing has been all over the globe and performed flawlessly in its intended mission of being an aviator/astronaut watch. However, it could not survive downtime when the previous owner swam with it in the ocean and flooded the watch. Hence, visit #1 to Omega. Visit #2 to Omega was when the second hand started to do the 5 second jump and continued this despite a fresh battery change. This is documented in the various and sundry articles about the X-33 as a weakness. Despite two Omega overhauls they never swapped the crown out for a gen II one. Interesting...

-So, for aviation purposes the X-33 did an amazing job. However, as a "sports" watch the X-33 failed. The previous owner is a tri-athelete so he swims as part of his training and for competition. The lack of water resistence kind of killed the X-33 for him and thus he started to wear it less and less.

There is a series of very similar pulsars that have a similar looks for a fraction of the price. I remember there was a guy who took a nuber of them and swapped modules with cases of the different variants and made one that was almost a spitting image for the omega. I looked for the post, but sadly the images are gone.

It was a Pulsar, not an Orient.

Looks like a well designed ana/dig. Very little obscuring of the digital display by the hands. The lumed parts extend only to the edge of the display. The minute hands is skinny and the tip of the hour hand is empty.

And my favorite part is that is is a pilot's watch without a slide rule.

Shame about the poor WR. I guess there are no gaskets on the pushers.
