Default New Seiko "Caribbean" Turtle Info Search

Hello folks! I just posted a version of this on the FB Seiko Passion group. I just can't quite figure out what version of the Turtle that I picked up on Grand Cayman. I don't have many modern Seikos, but I have some of the divers, and I really like the Turtles.

Ok, I said that I wasnít going to buy anymore watches for a while, especially since my wife and I are (were) on a cruise which is dangerous for me. I have bought several watches in the Caribbean over the years. But we wandered into Island Jewelers in Grand Cayman (a terrific "no games" pricing place) on our last stop and I fell in love with the dial on this Turtle. Seiko really understands how to do a blue dial. This is supposedly a version issued to Caribbean ADs, and I havenít been able to find it online for a comparison. This isn't the ďBatmanĒ or STO, but it might be close to the "Deep Blue Batman" but the Deep Blue has the mixed gradient dial (mine is completely blue), and doesn't have the yellow second hand nor the cyclops of my watch. This joins my Dawn Grey and PADI in my Turtle collection.

Further, Itís listed as a SRPD11P9 from the box. The D11 is the black PVD case, but D11P9 doesnít show up online. The model number after the 4R36 movement number on the caseback is 07F0 which I canít find anywhere.

Thoughts?

First I've seen of this combination, and I consider myself to be a student of the various new SRP "Turtle reissue" series.

Clearly a limited edition given the magnifier on the crystal.

Possibly an Asian issue Zimbe?

there have been a couple posts this past week regarding Seiko blue.

Seiko's blue is mesmerizing and addictive. And they seem to have/had a few versions that were slightly different but equally effective.

Congrats on a beautiful watch - I'm sure there will be more blue to come.

Tod - Stunning watch. Love that color combo. I had a modern turtle in black at one time, actually 2, and sold both. They are just a bit too big for my wrist in my opinion. Great timepieces though.

Thanks John! I have small wrists too but the Turtles cushion case seems to work for me despite its dimensions. The lug-to-lug works for me although this isnít the best photo to show it.

Thatís quite lovely. I was really torn between the 787 and the blue gradient dial. Had the blue dialed SRP not been a gradient dial I would have bought that, but I went with the 787 instead.

But yours....that I like.

The case number leads me to the model number SRPD43 - but for the life of me, I cannot find a pic online of that watch. Only the bezel and strap.

Exactly! I canít find even a hint of this watch online. I have emailed Island Jewellers on it to see where they get their info. Iíll post it as soon as I get something. Seiko, as we know, sometimes doesnít document everything they do very well. Iím glad I took the pictures at the AD for proof that I did buy it new.

Here is the back of the watch. Itís interesting to me that itís a very low production number for May 2019.

Default Answer from Seiko USA

Howdy folks,

So within 24 hours I get info back from Seiko USA. Here are the details. But if you search on SRPD43 on the web or on Seiko's own website there is nothing found other than the blue dive strap. The same it true if you use the catalog code. Seiko lists this as introduced in August of this year. My caseback is from May so I must have one of the first ones, number 62 overall most likely.

The email has the correct picture of the watch, but doesn't cut and paste into this editor.

Seiko is again as strange as they always have been (e.g. Silver Pogue)...

Well here is the picture of the SRPD43 straight from the Seiko USA dealers-only parts website.

If anyone wants one of those blue rubber wavy vent straps let me know. They have some in stock and odds are they will be all gone in a few days and who knows they might never return. You can't predict it.

And these wavy straps are super comfortable. My only issue is the large stainless keeper, while really good-looking, doesnít hold the end of the strap as well as it should. But, these are great overall.
