Hi All,

Today I got back a watch I'd had with Adrian at VTA for a while, and it finally gives me all the Pogues I'd anecdotally consider to be the rarest - or at least the rarest I'll ever be able to afford, in one instance. So without further ado, here they are, in (mostly) reverse chronological order. They're not the best photos - I was trying to catch the last of the light - but should suffice.

November 1972 6139-6002 "Sunrise" Speedtimer. Folks reading this likely know all about this one, but it appears they were only produced for two months, and they are few and far between!

April 1972 6139-6032 French "Coke" model, export (i.e. non-JDM/Speedtimer). Tom and other Pogue experts long debated whether or not there really was a "coke" export model, but now there seems to be pretty consistent agreement that there was - and Andy graciously sold me his (thanks again, Andy!). This blank-dial (i.e. no resist, no proof, no speedtimer) version appears to have only been released in France, per the French day wheel and French-language advertising that's been found. Much like the...

April 1971 6139-6032 Italian "Coke" model, export (i.e. non-JDM/Speedtimer). This version seems even rarer than the French, and the only two examples I knew of were both owned by forum member Alex. I traded for this one - thanks again Alex! This version, with a resist-marked dial, again appears to only have been released in Italy, per the Italian day wheel and Italian-language advertising that's been found.

October 1971 6139-6032 Forward "Coke" Speedtimer. These come up every now and again, and the consensus seems to be they were some sort of partnership with the car manufacturer Isuzu, though that seems to be a "best guess" kind of situation. Still, extremely hard to find compared to a "standard" Coke model.

July 1969 6139-6000 Silver "Proof" model, export (i.e. non-JDM/Speedtimer). The proof silver models are unquestionably the rarest of the -600X export Pogues, and I've only seen a couple others. Mine is particularly special given the condition - despite the oxidation on the subdial (boo), it appears never to have been worn - I have the original sales paperwork and warrantee, the original chiclet bracelet is crazy rare, and check out that caseback.

Last but not least...

February 1969 6139-6000 Blue Speedtimer. This is the one I just got back from Adrian. As the recently sold-example of a January 1969 6139 sold for an eye-watering amount (congrats, Bertrand!), and it was only the second known to exist, I'll be happy with this February example, which are still quite hard to find. This one has the nicest original matte hands I've ever seen - they wear terribly - and after Adrian's crystal guy worked at it, that original chrome-rimmed crystal looks darn close to new. I'm thrilled with it, and it's running like a top - thanks Adrian!

Sorry for my verbosity, and I hope some folks besides me enjoy seeing all of these rare birds in one place:

Too early in my WISdom to have caught the Pogue bug but I admire the dedication needed to learn the subject and then seek out those watches. Congratulations on a fine collection. A toss up between the silver dial or the Forward as my favourites. Congrats again.

Hah, for at least a little while the 2/69 isn't leaving my wrist. So I glad I splurged to have Adrian do it up. I got it in a lot of two junk watches on YJ with the subdial hand detached, and folks clearly hadn't noticed the serial as the two watches together were about $400. I made a little over $100 selling off the other watch (a stop-and-go 7017), so all-in I am thrilled with both the watch and what I paid . I had to steal the bracelet off my existing blue 7/69 JDM example, but I hope I'll recoup most of what I put in just by selling off that head alone given what I've seen these go for lately.
