How the High and Mighty Citizzens have fallen.

When I was younger I really was struck with the collecting bug. This is a cool watch which I placed in my case many years ago and of course now either the watch is broken or the battery is dead. I wouldn't even know how to open the case. I do remember it had a bell which sounded so real. But I never wore it much as you can see it still has the original protective plastic on the back. What to do, what to do?Attachment 425669

I'd open it up, and get the battery out of there. If it's sprung a leak, you want it out of there before anything gets damaged. Circuit boards and leaking electrolyte are a bad mix.

Aloha, lovely watch by the way.

Thanks that is good to know. How would I do that?

Though I could be totally wrong, I would start by getting a loupe and looking around the caseback perimeter for a pry spot to put a case knife. As you can see in the picture of the back of the watch, the text on the back is symmetrical with watch case, so the case back likely pops off and thus only goes on one way.

Take it to a store that sells watches....$5 buck or so to change a battery

They're falling extra hard if you don't spell Citizen correctly :undecided:

Citzen doesn't care much about spelling, about as much as they care about quality control. They're falling hard, even the micro bezels.

Hopefully this will help you.

If you look at the watch from the back, you can see a slight notch in the case just above where the 'B' in Noblia is. Carefully use whatever is handy, and fits, into that notched area, and pry the watch caseback up. Given that the watch hasn't been opened in years, it probably won't want to budge. You could take a very small flat blade screwdriver, use a file to round off the edge a bit, and sharpen it ever so slightly, so that it will fit into the notched area of the case. Magnification is a must. Whatever you do, don't break out the vice grips.

Aloha

I meant no offence and apologize to anyone who might be offended. I can only explain my misdeed as proverbial slip of the finger. Usually I offend by a slip of the tongue which is very easy in the political correct times that we live in. I can only promise that I shall be more careful in the future. Thanks for pointing it out, Carl

How would we all carry on and enjoy ourselves here without NZs proofreading?
