Default 6139-7010 under the radar!

While everyone is chasing around looking for Pogues, it is easy to forget they are not the only 6139's worth collecting. One of my favourites is the 6139-7010.

I think this is one of the best looking 6139 Speedtimers of all, and I believe it is the only 6139 that has Arabic numerals for the hour markers. It is a beautiful watch, very hard to find in any condition.....

I would like to see pic's of your 6139-701x.

I have one too, i got it a few weeks ago. Its an odd model since many of the 6139's are very colorfull and this one is mostly black and white (apart from the chrono hands). It has a quite understated/simple look to it.

They are collectible but also rather expensive. Maybe its the military connection to them? But unless you are reall into the arabic numerals you are better off buying the 700x or 7012's because those are quite a bit easier on the wallet imho. Its kind of a niche model that you dont see very often so thats why you dont hear a lot about them i think.

7012

I had one once but I traded it as part of another purchase. I need to get another one at some point.

Very nice pick up. Would love to find one with numeral markers to add to my collection. They don't show up often.

I serviced one last week funnily enough. Really clean example, unfaded, blob on sweep etc.

For me though they’re more ‘not on my radar’ rather than ‘under the radar’. I’m not a fan of the Arabic numerals personally but they’re well loved on IG when a pic comes up.

I just sold off the dial and hand set (with blob!) Had wanted to build one for myself.

Being the only 6139 with arabics and executed so smoothly makes it quite the collector reference.

Just FYI, I think the actual models that were issued to the Japanese Maritime Defense Forces had specific military engravings on the caseback.

I have also seen a silver dialed version on Japanese auction sites. Never seen one with specific military markings. Any idea what they (the markings) look like?

Here's a useful blog post with pictures.

And a picture from the website
The details of the watch were engraved on the inside of the caseback for obvious reasons.

Thanks for the info. Interesting to see another 6139 with " history" that is not yellow!

The 6139-70XX series really has some beautiful watches which are often over looked and often over priced as of late..........

What do you think should be the ideal price point for the 7010?

To buy? 5$

I think this was a very good deal and the buyer can be very happy.
