Thats a real beauty, I thought the dial would be great under the poor crystal, VERY nice.

Wow, this is exceptional. I have to admit that I also almost bid on this one to complement my Proof version (6020) and for the bracelet which looked original. But Im negotiating for a JDM Pogue with a seller and I just have to learn to say no. So I did! But Im thrilled that you got it! Please keep us up on the restoration!

Must admit I’d have been all over it for the money.

Wonder what the story with it is, don’t think I’ve seen even mint ones with such vibrant colours inside. Looking at the fade and wear on the bezel Id guess it had an overhaul internally in recent (ish) years, maybe at Seiko or a repairer that was able to get the NOS parts. Maybe had the whole lot done as even the day wheel is the exact same vibrancy. Normally the outer bezels are way tougher to fade than the orange inside. My one has a lot less exterior fade on the bezel but is nothing like as vibrant inside.

Either way be a very cool project.

Perfect candidate for a NOS bezel. Wonder if there’s any about still.

Late to the party, wow! That red looks amazing, everything under the crystal looks better than expected, really. Just like John, thought it would look great without the blurry crystal, but not that good. Maybe it lived in a dry climate, or maybe it did go through a professional service that helped preserve the insides when the outside surfaces suggest that much use.
Congratulations David !! Nice find, but even more rewarding that you get to sort it out yourself.

Ps: ...can’t wait to see it

And now the bad...The 0 Marker is gone on the internal ring, Pusher has corroded and the pusher springs are stuck in the case. I'll leave the ring and pusher as is. This watch has a filthy exterior and a near pristine interior...The crown is snapped off and won't be easy to remove the stump if at all. Now Waiting for the crystal etc...

That interior bezel is exceptional. So many have the paint chipping off.

The kind of watch we all wish for, untouched and "dirty", totally right with a great dial/hands, what more watch wise can you wish for ?

Well, I had some Time on my hands...Really happy with the outcome on this one. The end links need adjusting...I'll time it over the next week or so...Looking for a New/Newer bezel.

These bracelets are cool but the endlinks are not so great. I think they never really fit that well, if you look at NOS watches, even they dont have that good of a fit.

Hi David,

Your 6139 Coke turned out fantastic! With a new crystal you can now see and fully appreciate the Beautiful Dial (and that Amazing Red Text). The Speed-Timer looks so right on the Original Bracelet. Well Done Sir!

Good job.

I think you should re-lume the chapter ring though.

I’ll keep an eye out for a bezel.

I would strongly advise against this. Each to their own but i had a watch with relumed rotating bezel and the uneven glow of the bezel vs the rest of the watch put me off so much i sold it. Its a great watch to leave as is and keep it original

Yes, well I wouldnt say luming it with the latest luminova blaring out is a good idea. It could be done with old harvested lume, dead lume etc.

Its the visual balance of it for me and the lume plot is completely missing here and Id rather have a plot there myself. Even if it glows a bit itd be preferable for the 99% of the time Id be looking at it where it wouldnt have glow (even if you did use new lume)

Ultimate thing would be finding a NOS chapter, but good luck with that.

Funny its always the black chapter rings where the lume plot falls off, the yellows never seem to. Must be something to do with the finish on them because even a lot of the NOS black bezels Ive seen over recent years the lume has fallen off. They do seem to have a slippery surface to them almost though.
