I’d have to go grab a couple others to look at — and at the moment I’m far too comfortable to get up — but the stamping of the caliber/model number looks like the wrong font, as does the serial number. Also, I thought that the “Japan A” stamping only existed until the early 1980’s, after which production was moved and the stamping was changed to “A.” All in all, this one looks bogus to me.

I agree.

Fonts seem off.
Looks to be laser etched, or at least the stamps do not appear to be from tools of that era.

Side by side comparison with my 6309-7040 1981 case back. OP case back on right.

Logo looks slightly different also.

It really does make you wonder how many honest guys are holding fakes unknowingly and when they come to sell them they will either get a shock or unknowingly pass it on and the buyer be unaware as they bought it from a good guy with a reputation.
