Continuing my Vintage Japanese Brands Collection with Orient, I have based it on my taste for Vintage Divers. In the 60s it started with the Swimmer ( not Diver yet ) and I choose this Orient Weekly Auto Swimmer 21 jewels for its WABI SABI Two Tone looks and the "swimmer" blue print on the dial.

Thank you guys for the nice words. Vintage Orient are increasing in popularity among JDM collectors but you have to select carefully the right models. The fact that after 2000 there are many production from Orient ( Seiko ) for the market creates confusion. The right spot is 60s and early 70s. For the day wheel, from memory it is only japanese on this model.

This time with the Vintage Orient Calendar Auto Swimmer. Compared to the Weekly Auto Swimmer ( 40m ), this one has a screw down crown therefore a better water resistance of 100m in blue print on the dial.

Japanese uses Kanji, which are Chinese characters. You might be used to just seeing the first character for the day, which is like when we have "Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun" in English on watches. These just have the name of the same written out in full, so like "Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday" - the second two characters are the same for every day, like us having "day" at the end of the name of every day in English (although actually only the last character of the 3 means "day", the second character that's used every day means "dawn" or "morning", but it applies to the name of the whole day, not just the dawn or morning of that day).

Coming to the BIG BOYS with the famous Orient King Diver 21 Jewels ( No KD ) and the 1942 movement. Mine is a quite rare configuration with a Non Fluted Bezel and a Brown Inner Ring on its original Snake Bracelet.

The last Orient King Diver was reissued in 2000 as the King Master 21 Jewels. This is the Silver Face version.

Not easy to find a vintage Orient World Diver with the 1942 movement in mint condition. This one is all original in good condition. Aside with the Orient King Diver with the same movement.
