Default Return to Perfection: 6139-6030 Comes Home

Hello all,

I just had to open this up as a new thread. Sir Alan has just returned my "barn find" 6139-6030 that I found from an estate dealer. It was in really excellent shape and actually ran OK on the timegrapher. But it was obvious from the noise in the movement that it needed a rebuild. With both KVW and VTA pretty busy I just held onto it for many months waiting to see (and saving money) where I could send it. After some postings on it Simon contacted me and impressed me with his ability to do chronograph service. So with a little trepidation I sent it off to the UK expecting that it would arrive just fine. But sending these watches overseas always involves a bit of risk (as we have seen in a recent thread).

Simon was amazing in his communication and his ability with the macro lens profiling the the entire disassembly, cleaning, and reconstruction of the watch. I have never seen a watch documented like this. I'm sure that he does this for all of his customers, but it is like a Nova documentary on a watch re-birth. The site is here: https://1drv.ms/f/s!ArEOrf65patuix9LyFLvuj2lYmRe.

Here are a few pictures including a beat DHL box and the watch on my wrist with a new Uncle Seiko jubilee bracelet. Life is blessed.

Beautiful watch, and rebuilt by someone well regarded in the Seiko circles.

Stunning watch! Looks absolute fabulous and now that she has been serviced too she wants to be worn. Looking forward to see her on the upcoming WRUWs.
