Default speaking of DAHASCO's make new thread

I picked up this pair via separate purchases on the 'bay over the last two years knowing that they needed some work. it's the only way I'd buy these things these days. sent it off and replaced a few things; I am also aware that watch mechanics have lives also..so, had to wait a bit to get them back. all told, I had to wait for 3 ish years to have these in their present condition. worth it, eh? that's what I get for dating a Canadian girl girl...ha!

only one part is NOS on the two, but for the most part, one of our resident gurus did a great job I feel. I paid too much for the silver (in my mind), but it turned out great (I "might" not wear that one while changing oil!).

to DAHASCO's point, I usually try to buy parts watches (A LOT harder these days) and use the used, but in good condition, parts on my keeper watches. I NEVER polish cases, ever, unless the guru thinks he can do it (great job guru!) so that I can't tell.

ewan, want to buy them ALL? LOL. if the yellows keep eluding me, I'm dumping them all! =)

I had read D as saying that he preferred "honest" watches. Your two appear to fit that bill. Beautiful too!

Outstanding pair there. No doubt your appreciation and love for them goes way up with the story and the long wait! I am sure it feels incredible having them back!!! Like you, I like some honest, dare I say perfect wear on vintage pieces. One of my favorites is a blue 6139 with faded bezel, unpolished case, and faded inner bezel. It's also one of the best running/functioning chronographs I have ever owned! If I wasn't so lame, I would post pictures!!

Congratulations Larry!
I just have one problem with your story. You still change the oil? The cost of oil plus filter almost = what they charge to do it almost anywhere. Then you still have to deal with disposing of the used oil. It’s a mess to go through and may only be saving a few bucks.

Ps: just kidding around with you bud.

Btw, you’re very good acquiring bracelets such as the speedy sports in addition to the watches.
