Default Citizen launches 0100 Caibre models 1 sec. annually

Citizen launched three limited edition models at Baselworld that use the new calibre 0100 that was announced last year as a prototype.

The cal 0100 operates at 8.4MHz, maybe they should have called this the 8Mega, and is rated at 1 sec. annually.

There is an 18K gold cased version and two super tough Ti models that will be available in around quarter three this year. They will all be members of "The CITIZEN" family.

Some more info about the new models can be found here: Baselworld 2019 - Citizen announces Calibre 0100 Watches 1 sec. annually

I also wrote up more details on the calibre itself back from the original announcement of the movement last year. Citizen Calibre 0100 - 1 Second Annual Accuracy

These are very impressive movements and it will be interesting to see if Seiko decides to challenge them on the technology.

Gosh, talk about a stealth watch - they look so blase for what they have under the hood! Thanks for the detailed write-up, Anthony.

This is so good and I am glad that someone tries to make better watches.
It is a mystery that Seiko do not care to be # 1 in this game and focus on making as much LE and silly reissue models as they can.
50 years ago Citizen was tiny compared to Seiko but now they are bigger...

It's the most accurate quartz in the history of watches.

.

Wow, those new Citizens are so nice!

"NO! THEY HAVE NO TEXT IN THE LOWER HALF OF THE DIAL!" Ha-ha-ha, what would the new GS haters think?

When I look at these, and think about all my Citizen divers, I think someone at Citizen understands "hands" much better than their counterpart at Seiko!!

Look at the way that second hand fits into the hour marker. Those are three beautiful and different dials.

They are very clean (plain) but I do like the center one with the textured dial - I could live with that.

Citizen is a brand to watch IMHO. Maybe we'll need to change the name of the forum to "CSWF"

Very nice design with a fantastic HEQ movement, I think Citizen is on the right track.

Holy cow - I just looked at the price - $7400US for the one I like.

Not sure I'll be getting that anytime soon. Would love to hear a review of one from someone though.

Thats stupid money. Looking at the shot of the movement, it looks all nice and machined, but it appears they are just fancy cover plates that are screwed on. Would love to see a breakdown of the movement.

+1 agree. Citizen trying to capture a piece of the high end market and I'm sure at that price they're making a lot of margin. But wow.

I was hoping (perhaps naively) they would be in the $500-700 range. That's attainable. Also, and this is certainly open for debate, I'm not sure Citizen has broad enough name recognition (at least amongst the general population) to command that type of price.

Oh well, fun to look.

Citizen declares war on Grand Seiko I wonder where this will leave their chronomaster range in the overall scheme of things.

Yes, this reminds me of the 70s when Mopar stuffed huge v8s into businessmen sedans...real sleepers.

I'm guessing that the price tags will be unobtainium even for the SS cased models

We have to be very careful that watches like this don't turn ordinary WIS into anal accuracy phobes
I would be proud to wear any one of those three (he wishes out loud).

Just found a short video from Citizen about these models that shows a little bit of info about the calibre.

Great tech, Anthony. For marketing purposes, I wish they'd also use and highlight a high -finish case, crown, hands, indices. Go toe to toe with GS on that front.
