Default Seiko bracelet spending?

As title,
How much would you be willing to spend for an original bracelet for a seiko?
Say you had a GS with an unusual case shape, (angled)
Or any watch that needs the correct bracelet?

I paid about £70 for a NOS flared 6139-6XXX bracelet last year, I once bought six Bell-matics over a period just to make one nice one.

I like the original on a watch if I can but often easier getting the watch than the bracelet

Its usually more cost effective and much easier to find a watch + bracelet together and sell it on head-only.

I guess it really depends on the value of the watch how much the bracelets are worth.

This hits close to home; I've definitely spent between $90 - $200 to get a bracelet.

On the upper end of that scale, it was spread across two separate purchases—one an incomplete short bracelet with both end links, and one with pieces of the bracelet accompanying a watch.

Luckily, I was able to recoup most of my cost reselling both the pieces I didn't need (which turned out to be a complete bracelet with no extra links) and the watch from the second purchase—once I cobbled together the bracelet in the length I needed.

Hmmm,
This is significantly more, but I’ve not seen one that will fit this watch I’ve sent pic of in ages!

I've paid as much as $110US for a Seiko bracelet. Unfortunately so many of them were tossed over the years that they are getting hard to find if you want to bring the watch back to original. I have several watches where the bracelets are worth considerably more than the head. Good news is they do retain their value and increase the overall value of the watch.

As my collection becomes more focused I have more interest in getting the watches as close to original as possible which means: bracelet.

I may be way off here (and my apologies in advance if this is a stupid thought), but is there any relation between your GS and this KS Vanac 5626-7140: https://www.thewatchsite.com/21-japa...26-7140-a.html ?

The similarity in the case shape near the lugs, the prismatic crystal on both watches, and the inter-relatedness of GS and KS, all made me think these two might be related. If so, is the bracelet on that Vanac original and would it work on your GS?

Sorry. I knew it was a long shot, but I thought there might be a chance. Good luck with the hunt.

I think I saw this in a dictionary under "commitment". Some of us want to leave things better than we found them in this world. Cheers.

I've seen JDM 6139 bracelets go for crazy money. Like $500 crazy.

Depends on the model. A vintage World Time bracelet is easily $200+. Like Scubarob says JDM SpeedTimer 6139-6000 in great condition go for over $500.

Mostly $75-$100 for a decent model in NOS condition.

Yes.

I do this all the time.

But the BEST way is to trade bracelets here on the forum. For the price of postage, both people get what they need. It's a rare occurrence, but every once in a while the stars line up just right!

"Patents of a Saint" OR patience?
I know...it could've been meant in fun.

You will probably have to spend several hundred dollars (US) to acquire a mint bracelet for that one. Somewhere between $3-600 depending on how lucky you are with competition for it when one comes up (but don’t hold your breath).

Despite the fact that the 6145/6-8050’s were only ever sold on bracelets, very few have survived the last 45 years.

Kind regards,

Gerald.

I would say you got that well on the low side of market pricing.

Well done.
