Default A quad of funky Seikos

I was messing around with some pictures and always thought these four watches go together in style and funkiness. So to kick off the weekend I thought I'd post some fun pictures. The faceted crystals really make the watches pop IMO ....

You have any to share? I know a few of you out there have some gems.

Looking for a Vanac and LM next up to keep with the theme.

THAT is beautiful. I'm starting to think that some of these funky Citizens are getting harder to find that the Seikos. Love the crystal!

Thanks Phil for wading in on the thread - kinda thought you would :-)

#4, 5 and 7 are especially beautiful - the faceted crystal adds all kinds of depth and dimension to the dials on those watches. The LM Special (#5) with the textured dial is a knock out (and that intricate bracelet). IMO these watches represent Seiko pushing designs to the limits for creativeness, uniqueness and funkiness .... Not sure we saw them do this any other time.

I would say that they were way ahead of their time or perhaps right on top of their time. I also think that they would sell today as well as back than, or even better. The facetted crystals make them really pop. I have some more LM's (not that funky to be included here) where I had to change the heavy scratched facetted crystal to a plain one since I could not source an original. Finding them today is not that easy. I bid on a lot of facetted ones (about 35 to 40) some months ago but for some unknown reason today I stopped my bidding.... This is something that keeps hunting me till today:-)

that's a good point on the faceted crystals - within reason I don't mind spending money on a new faceted crystal because it is such an integral part of the watch, like the bracelet. So the question is: do you keep a scratched faceted crystal or replace with a new non-faceted crystal? Depending on how bad the original looks, I would lean towards the former. Even scratched it gives an amazing appearance ....

If I find an original fitting facetted crystal I normally buy it. Except the price is way over the roof. If the crystal isnt scratched to much I leave it as it is. On the other hand the scratched crystals do take away something from the very often beautiful dials. Especially the LMs are candidates for plain glass just to bring out those often hidden treasures. Advans too.... I do keep the taken out scratched up crystals, some day there will be a way to rescue them. Seiko should make them available again!

Love those faceted crystal Seikos from the 70s. My father wore a Seiko DX with a faceted crystal. I think it may have been a quartz. Seem to recall it was gold with a root beer color dial. He is gone now but I will be taking possession of some of this watches from the estate in a few weeks. Interested to see what will be there for me. I will post some pics if the Seikos are there.

A 6106-5467 which I absolutely love for its 70s vibe.
