There a Japan J version of a 7C43-70XX diver?

Because I'm interested in the case shape difference between the Japan A and Japan J versions of the 7548 (J is nicer) and so I wondered if the 7C43-7 series have a version with the extended lugs.

Checking the last few I've had and all have been Japan A versions and googling images of others I have only spotted As.

Would be surprised if there is one as it's looking doubtful. The 7548 case shape is interesting in this regard, though.

I could be wrong but I thought they were all JDM only.

7C43-7010 and 700A are JDM. The 7548-7000 I have with a Japan J case is JDM. But then there are the SQ dial 7009 and 7000 versions that aren't JDM 7C43s afaik.

Pardon the hijack, but...

Can you show the dif between A and J cases? Of the half dozen 7548s I have all are A cased including the single -7000

Slightly longer, more tapered lugs. Most 7548s I've had have been Japan A. The only one I have and will keep is a Japan J.

Thanks Guy.

I neglected to actually verify which case back is on the one I am wearing right now. Its a -7009 from 1985 with an S case back? And the longer slim lugs.

Ah in that case that's interesting. Because if another 7548 case has the same lugs as the J and is as late, and RoW, then I wonder if a 7C43 could be seen not with an J case but with an S.

Could you take a snap and measure lug tip to tip?

Thanks both. Yes so I can see the slight case shape change in your orange J version Reynaldo. Also yours Michael with the bracelet looks the same but harder to tell than when on a rubber I think.

Will measure mine against a 6309-7290 which is just the same as the 'usual' A versions etc.

Ill snap a couple more later sans bracelet and strap. Id just come in from working in the yard and didnt want to sweat all over the bench so snapped those kind of quickly

Obviously the length is different.

Here are some better photos. Much more clear how different the lug profiles are between the S and A cases. Also, off the strap and bracelet the measurements are a bit wider difference

Thats almost 1 mm in length.

I did notice right away was the slimmer and pointer lugs of the J to the A.

Nice picture of those back to back.

Good pics!

Less than 1mm can change the look so much, although as you say Rey they taper differently. For me on the wrist there is a slightly more elegant flow to the case on the J and now S versions. The A are seemingly just a little more chunky. Still great, but personally I love the subtle difference.

Here are my two examples. I "believe" both to be original.

On the left -7009 from Jan '85; "A" case back.
Side note: this one came with a Z199 if anyone is trying to "chart" these. I'd be curious.

On the right -700F from June '85; "S" case back.

I've got a little more than 1mm difference. And now I'm wondering if those end links might fit better on the A case they came from... Better get to shaping that one up...

Cheers Andy. Another S case matching the J version.

Huh, look at that... pictured last is the S case -700F I've been wearing the Z199 on. So much for that plan.

Maybe A types were sold with the Z199 if the J and S are a poor fit.

Good question. Has anyone looked into witch models years these were available? Well worth the hunt for one. I'll add too, the Uncle Seiko version fits my -7290 perfectly and it measures 45mm, the shortest of my lot. Taper is like the A case like you noted.
