I have been searching for my own 5126-8090 for two years now. When a 5126-8090 does come up it is either in poor condition, or wayyyyy too expensive.

I think this Seikomatic J13.083 must be one of the earliest 70m watches produced by Seiko.

This is indeed the earliest 70m Seiko I have seen. I previously believed that the 6119-8120 from 1968 was the first. The Seikomatic J13.083 70m was released in 1964 according to what I have been able to glean online.

Mine seems to have the date January 1963.

Here are my four 6106-8100s, all from 1968-1969. While setting up the shot, I noticed that the Blue Chevron does not have a 70 meter dial.

It looks like a stamped caseback instead of an etched one. I think that why it hasnt worn off and is in good condition.

Just got this guy back from my watchmaker. I found the case, crown, and dial together on eBay, then found a 6106B movement from another seller. Aftermarket hands, unfortunately.

Dial is missing the date window frame, thus exposes quite a bit more white than normal. Is it possible to pull one from another dial, or should I look for another complete dial? Those seem to be difficult to find, and this one was otherwise in excellent condition...

No, good replacement dials are not hard to find, they are impossible to find. Instead post a thread asking a donor dial with the same frame.

Frames of this sort are pretty common, and people here are generous.
