Default Starlight Cocktail Time - SARY087

While in Japan recently I picked up the new SARY087 "Starlight" Cocktail Time.

This is a new Limited Edition addition to the Cocktail Time line up and is a collaboration with famous bartender Hisashi Kishi from Ginza Star Bar. It is a JDM model with 1300 pieces but there is an international release SSA361 that I believe will have 3500 pieces.

The watch is presented in a limited edition Presage box and is provided with a card showing the Starlight cocktail and glass that inspired the model design. On the back of the card is the recipe for the cocktail.

Many people expressed concerns regarding the size of the Made in Japan text on the dial and I do agree that this should have been the same size as the dial code.

While the text is a little annoying in images, when seen in person you do not notice it. The dial has an interesting texture and this is contrasted with the concentric radial pattern on the date sub-dial. The printing on the dial is very thick and when viewed closely it is notably raised.

The case, movement and rotor design are the same as other current cocktail time models.

I picked up this model from Yodobashi in Shinjuku and paid just under US$500. While this may not be to everyone's taste I think these models represent excellent value for money and you rarely see this level of dial finishing at this price point.

Beautiful piece!! High quality too!! I just picked up a Cocktail a few weeks ago second hand. I got it from a local pawn shop of all places. Not where you'd expect to find a JDM Seiko. I love it and the quality is awesome!!
