Default My Dad's old SEIKO

Hi guy's ^-^

My Dad gave me his old SEIKO some years ago when it needed a new glass, we both tried to buy a new SEIKO glass for it but both of us failed after contacting SEIKO Japan. I have since had a perspex one fitted. The model code on the back plate reads A7123 8200 WITH G2 writen in a box. The other code on the back reads 946934. It has a silver face with SEIKO QUARTZ Sports 100 on it and two wave symbols on the back. The watch has day and date onit. Does anyone know how old it may be as my dad can't remember? This watch got me hooked on SEIKO'S and I am now on my fourth one which is at last an automatic. I hope this was made in Japan like my others although I can't find a stamp saying where it was made.

Does it look like this (photo found on Internet)?

Judging by the serial number, it was made in April of 1979 or 1989. I'm not familiar enough with these to know which decade they were made in.

By the way, many of the material houses in the States appear to stock parts for this model.

Best wishes,
Myles

Hi Myles,

Yes it looks very much like this but with a silver face and it does not say silverwave on the face but sports 100, The year could be 79 as my dad said he had it before I was born (1980). How do I find these material house's for the spares please, as I would love to make it waterproff again.

Also would you know if my new Automatic would have been made in Japan please?

Thanks for your help.

There a lot of Seiko 7123-82xx models out there. Some one here must have a photo of one like it?

I have a Seiko Sports 100 7123-8219. Here she is. I also have A silver dialed 7123-8370 Sports 100 and a gold dial Sports 100 7123-823H.

I purchased this one in....I think 1981. I could dig up the paper work but some other time.

Can you post a photo of it. Welcome to the madness.

Mark

The watch was manufactured in April 1979 at Seiko's Daini factory in Japan (see the little symbol below Silverwave on selym's provided photo -- that identifies the Daini factory).

Wow thats the one thanks Bob, I thought I was the only guy wearing a SEIKO that looked liked mine! I now know some places I can try for a new glass which is cool, .

My new SEIKO is a 4R16 0080 (850033) which I hope is not made in China but I would not be suprised if it was, although I'm sure it would have been made to SEIKOS hi spec. I also have two other SEIKO'S as well as the above two.one TISSOT one Mondaine swiss railways watch one POLICE one OAKLEY one Slazanger. and one very old original F1 Tag. but SEIKO'S are me fav. think I have got the watch bug! You need to make a post in the Wanted to Buy/Sell section of this forum. I'm not sure if you need a minimum number of posts before you can do this.
