I contacted myretro- watches and after a bit of back and forth with him asking for proof despite me telling him where he would find all the info he would need for proof ie here on this thread.I finally told him to look on ebay for baldy petes listing His email reply was quote ;Oh evidence enough case solved; unquote. This was yesterday afternoon iv'e just checked his web site and the watch is still for sale discription unchanged. I don't know about you guys but i'm saving hard for one of his NOS seiko's

He also said in one of his emails [ I am not convinced and you should not believe everything they say on forums most are idiots talking about things they do not know as they do not have a life]

What a charming man .

Interesting, yet he continues to sell the other even though he now should know it is fake.

Also interesting is the movement shot from his current 6138-7000 auction, anybody spot the issue here?

Looks like they will re-use just about any movements that they can to get these going.

Something else besides the wrong movement that I have learned from this topic is that the thread for the caseback to screw into goes to far down the case. I don't know the correct English word for it but I believe it is thread.

This topic is by far the most interesting I have read since joining this forum, I want to thank all the participants for sharing their information.

Has he been reading my posts ?

I was thinking while reading this post that now any mint/nos ones of these will obviously cause most of our guys to check them out in depth but it could be a problem if any of these guys decide it might be better to "age" them, scratched crystals a little bit of grunge etc.

With respect, who cares what they do to the fakes?

Because of this thread and the idiocy of the fakers to only produce one caseback number, we've all now got the ammunition we need to avert any more painful puchases.

One question on any 6138-7000 and you'll know.

Also they are relatively scarce. My UK search I just did brought up 2, so it's not like they'er overwhelming us.

Sadly, anyone who does accidentally buy one will have to put it down on the list with all the other potential pitfalls that any newcomer can fall into.

They are scarcely offered because the scum doesn't want to make you supicious.

Wouldn't you think if they were offered by the dozens people would start thinking something was wrong? Atleast that is my thought..
Hopefully they didn't sell to much and are still stuck with loads of these fakes.
Atleast now we know what to look out for, until they change the serials and the 00 on the dial...

Incredible post. Thanks to Thanapa OP and to all who contributed to this development.

Is it possible to sell a fake one on the bay with a super high price that no one would actually buy it, but the listing would state it is a fake and is more of an informational advert/warning to prospective buyer? Just a thought.

I thought about doing that with mine, as at least I own it. I fear however that eBay would ironically take action against it should you declare it to be non-original in the listing. Let me think if I can come up with a clever way of describing it so that would work.

Seller responded and the listing was removed, I don't think the guy knew to be fair, he seemed pretty bummed at being duped himself

Sorry for the serious dead thread resurrection. Still seeing these listed from time to time and I can't see it does any harm to re-raise awareness of these fake 6138-7000's. Even if this is the most personally depressing thread ever....

This one being sold as NOS, even has cute little stickers on the ends of the pushers....

Hello forum members. I have lurked around here for too long and finally joined up as my interest in vintage Seikos grows. Into divers at the moment.
Thanks to this thread i didn't blow my money on a fake that i was about to buy as a companion for my SBDS Flightmaster. These threads are invaluable.

that auction got pulled, but the seller's other auctions don't look much better. Same arty photos as we see with other fraudulent listings designed to help people cheat themselves. Some very clever boilerplate text about "experienced buyers only" more or less, which is funny since experienced buyers wouldn't go near this thing, thanks to this thread.

[size=2em] Hi all - sorry old post I know.
I was aware of this thread and I took a chance on a 7000 that has now arrived. As I’m short on time I did not read the entire 6 page thread tonight - sorry. I noted there was a request to have a definitive side by side comparison however it did not seem to conspirer? Perhaps the definitive thread is somewhere however I have not found yet. Anyway here is my 2 cents.
My 7000 has a different serial number than the fake. It does however has a lose bezel but that I suspect is a common vintage bezel issue? The bezel a-lines well if not perfect with the fixed bezel. The dial has the “60” sub-dial indicator mark. The movement holder looks to be authentic. It was hard tp photograph but by comparison I believe it to be authentic. The stem tube is long but not overtly long and removing the movement is fine. The crown also has the square case indent. What I did note was the case back thread did continue into the steam area? Has anyone clarified the thread depth of an authentic 7000? I also note that the fake 7000 has a lume indicator at the 9 o’clock mark. Mine does not?
My 7000 came on a new strap and had a stuck pusher which had considerable gunk/grime around the pusher – hard to copy? All the best and I hope like me this tread helps others.
Kind regards Rich

IIRC all the fake ones had the same serial number, so you are probably OK with yours.

They do seem to have disappeared though? Even genuine ones are pretty scarce at the moment...

WOW . . . some people are real s**m bags. It's one thing to make AM parts, etc. but to represent the watch as real is something completely reprehensible!

Sorry to hear that some of our fellow SCWFers got shafted on this scam.

Hello everybody, my name is Charlie and yes I am a "new b"! This is a shame, I always knew that fakes were out their. I have bought a couple of watches from SCWF members so far nothing but the best experience! For the life of me I can not figure out why as of now the Mods have not made a perminent spot on every page that members can report stuff like this. We need to call these people out and stop beating around the bush! Alright going to the glass half full side of things. The minium that could happen is a spot some where on this site where members can go and see a list of reputable people. I have to admit this has put a damper on my watch hunting! New b or not we all work hard for our money and we should look out for each other. It almost seems like it is acceptable for a stupid new b (me) to get burned. I am not saying that this is across the board but take notice when someone that is a supposed expert gets burned everybody feels bad, a new b gets burned it okay or atleast accepted? Let's not forget everybody started as a new b at one time! I am going to be looking for watch maintenance and looking to buy more watches. If anybody has any suggestions I would appreciate it very much! Thanks for help, Charlie
