Isthmus had started a thread that might prove useful, at least for gathering the diver model numbers

Well, I still collect dates... But the website is not even started yet.

I can offer you a timeline of the dates I collected. The plan is to make this dynamic, so you could select the watches you want to compare...

This is how I envision it, anyway. Please keep in mind that the images are not completely of my own watches, which I plan to change at some point. (Or maybe I'll use images of friendly forum members who might allow me to use them...)

Fyi, my 6105 8110 production date is Oct '72.

Thats superb! Not seen this thread before. I have started something slightly similar for 6139s starting with the 600x although its early days. Id like to do it for all 6139 and 6138 models. But time is not something I have much of at the moment so thought Id start with the 600xs.

I also have an August 1988 5H26-7A10 ......
At least the quartz divers are easy to get the right decade for, as the battery change dates on the back start approx 3 years after manufacture date.

I have 3 7548s made SEPT 1978, 1982 & 1983

I have collected the production years of some of the Seiko "everyman's" divers:

Code:
Model Start of Production End of Production
6217-800X 1965 1967 (1968?)
6105-800X early 1968	1970
6105-811X mid 1970	late 1976
6306-7000 mid 1976	1979
6309-704X early 1977	1988?
7548-700X early 1978	1985(86?)
6309-729X 1983 1992
7C43-70XX 1985 1991
5H26-7A0X 1988 1993
7002-70XX 1989 1996
7S26-002X 1996 ...
4R36-04YX 11/2015 ...

And would like you to chime in with production months of your very early or very late divers from the list (or propose new models, if you like).

I know there was a list flowing around that collected 6105 serials, to find out the earliest production date.

I hope to chart these against each other, so we can have a nice chart that gives start and end dates compared to each other.
Maybe we'll have another one for the tunas? Or the 300m "Professionals"?

If you can contribute to this, thank you very much. If you want to add ideas or criticism, please do!
Thanks Jonas!

Jonas, you have the 7002 as starting in 1989, but according to Seiko CS in the UK the 7002 started in 1988.

This is the reply from them when I asked if they could give me production dates of all the 70xx movements.

Unfortunately this information is not easily obtained we have readily available that the 7002 started 1988 and the 7009 1976 and the 7019 1981, they are all around these times. We are very sorry we have been unable to help in this instance with a comprehensive list.

Kind regards
CS Dept.

Im pretty sure they are wrong about the 7019, they were about in the 70's and as possibly as early as 1971. They are also wrong about the 7009, as it appears in the 1975 supplement catalogue under the "Active line" SCW models.
Ive never seen a 7002 150m as early as 1988, but that doesn't mean they don't exist I suppose. Perhaps the 7002 7010 was about before the 150m diver, and im fairly confident that 7002 dress watches didn't appear before 1990.

Looking at your time line I notice a clean cut off on each model, im pretty sure there was an overlap in most cases. The latest 7002 700x ive seen was dated November 1996, so im guessing the 7002 was still being produced at the same time as the SKX, or did the SKX come out very late 1996?

Have you classified the 7002 as one type throughout? I notice you have only listed the 700x 150m versions and have omitted the 702x and 7030 200m versions. 1994 to 1996
Apologies if I appear to be nit picking, that wasn't my intention, im just trying to clarify. I seem to be hindering more than helping

My serial number research shows as follows, 6105-8000 March 1968 to July 1970; 6105-8009 April 1968 to November 1970; 6105-8110 May 1970 to February 1977; 6105-8119 February 1971 to February 1977. Proof and resist models have differing production periods and there is evidence of service case backs from outside of this range.
