Default 6105 - crystal replacement. modern style AR coated or original replacement

About a year ago I found a 6105 - 80xx on this forum. I had it overhauled by Richard Askham (UK) and we agreed to leave the watch as original as possible, including the 'fuzzy' crystal. Now, after more than a year, the fuzzy, blurry appearence of the crystal starts to irritate me. Now, what to do: get myself an aftermarket modern style AR coated crystal, or start a search for a straight Seiko replacement?

Your ideas and experiences are very welcome!

(btw, who sells the correct Seiko replacements - if they are made of unobtanium, things are different off course!)

Menno

The watch - after being overhauled by Richard. From this angle, the crystal looks to be bright, but when you wear it, the angle changes and things are a lot less clear!

OEM very hard to find. Swedefreak has 1:1 TMG replacments. Yobokies has 1:1 AR coated synthetic sapphire. Dealer's choice. You really can't go wrong either way.

But would add that I prefer the mineral glass replacements. The AR sapphire looks too modern IMHO for the 6105..

A question and an observation:

1) If originality is important, can the existing crystal be buffed to your satisfaction?

2) Interested in any input by forumers. In my experience some of my AR coating darkened the whiteness of hands and markers slightly as viewed on 6105 or 6309. I now prefer accepting minor reflection on custom domed crystal without AR but with higher contrast of the white markers and a little brighter view of the whole dial. Of course may be my particular AR, but would be nice if you can make some comparisons before final decision.

3) If you choose flat crystal though, is a non issue as do not need AR in my view.

And as already commented -- you cannot go wrong with that beautiful 6105 either all original or enhanced.
