This has a bit of a back story to it, you can just skip to the pictures if you want ;)

So my friend John, who lives in the United States, agreed to relay some watches for me. Just two old digitals which I bought on ebay.com which weren't able to ship to Germany.

Now, he is the reason I got into vintage digitals at all, showing off some of his acquisitions in a thread in this forum:
http://www.thewatchsite.com/21-japa...-own-0624-5009-yellow-what-your-thoughts.html

We had some dealings before and sadly, USPS in combination with DHL lost my parcel. So this time, we went all out and got FedEx priority.
John, being the good soul that he is, wanted to send me some of his digital "project watches" as well. Turns out he sent me all of them!

German customs are rather... thorough. Some value on the parcel and taxes paid are not enough, nooo - you have to have detailed lists of what's inside and values for each item, too. :(
So instead of two days, it took them almost two weeks to get the parcel to my door. I had to send them "comparison" ebay listings to have the value of the items taxed...

It happened to be my birthday when it finally arrived, so I celebrated it a bit and had a nice Skype chat with John while opening my present:

Now, each one of them (besides the two I bought on ebay) was dead as a doornail. But the case on that 0624... spectacular! NOS!
I couldn't believe my eyes, when I unpacked it. I think, John got that over the chat we had just then... ;)

All right, now I had the unblemished case and band, but it still wasn't running.

So I sent it off to a known german watch repairman for vintage digitals, Peter Wenzig ( http://digitalwatches.de/ ).

...but he could not do anything for it. Display and Module dead, he said.

Well, one last shining hope (which I should have taken first, but I though that local shipment is faster and more reliable): The SeikoKid!
He had all the parts in store and did a wonderful job on it. Turnaround was about 14 days including shipment in both directions, so I'd say he was mighty fast.

Now it's back to it's old glory, counting away the seconds happily and joining my family of vintage Seiko digitals:

So thanks again, John! And thank you Rob (aka SeikoKid) for a job well done.
