Default Citizen Promaster Battery Change Question (more)

Hey all - I just got an orange dial Citizen Promaster Chrono that I bought super-cheap at a yard sale. I opened it up (yeah, I know the watch case says not to)
and popped in a new 395 battery. The chrono is acting totally crazy. Is it shot or do I have to short out the movement somehow to get it working properly?
TIA.

Yes, you probably have to short out a couple of terminals to erase the previous settings. A photo of the movement would be helpful in advising you further.
