Default What have you bought this week

^-^ Found this on ebay for very little money, a 1979. 7813-6009. 5 Jewel with hardly a mark on it. I don't normally go for gold, but I liked the look, and it wears well. Bob.

Nice! I haven't bought anything this week, but I did swing a lopsided trade! I traded my SKX-009 for a 6309-7040.

I don't know.....he would let me know when it was ready and about to ship.

All I can tell you is that I picked up the snowflake dial and hands combo.

Not a Seiko I know, but you asked me what I'd bought this week. Not my pic BTW. Second pic, stock.

Two Star series Elna TSP, one well used, the other very nice cosmetically but sold as a parts machine because its broken, "won't make a stitch". When I inquired if anything around the bobbin spins when you press the foot control, the reply was negative. So either the designed to fail rotary hook drive gear is stripped, or the handwheel clutch knob is loose (actually have bought two with the knob loose). So now I'll have 12 identical machines for my wife's summer classes instead of 10. Thats another $600 per month income for her.

Well, I bought this last week from John (TigerUK), but it arrived yesterday so I guess it kinda counts....
1979 6309-7040 arrived in well used original condition but needing some love to make it wearable. A mild case refinish, movement service, new crystal, new gaskets and a set of replacement hands as the originals are pretty much spanked...it will take some effort to bring them back. 5 hours of fun last night yeilded the photo results. Decided not to replace the insert...I liked the charactor of it.
She's not perfect but, is now the 14th 6309-704X in my growing collection. This one will be for daily wear.

No wonder there are no good deals on 6309-7040's anymore. Hoarders all around. It wouldn't bee so bad but John also has cornered the market on 6105's as well. How many now John? 10,000 or so?

Hey Bob, you don't undestand. With the extra $600 per month income for wife's business, I don't have to suppliment her revenue stream, and can buy more watches. So the sewing machines ARE watch related. And if you think watches are complicated, try replacing a cam stack drive gear in one of these Elna's. When putting back together there are 18 sets of timing marks to match up.
