'61 3180, first GS, 3rd execution. Very first had carved logos, then printed, then applied.

MY 6039-7040 from a fellow member is still in the mail - in the wrong direction. It seems the customs office had a typo in the address when they tried to mail me the notice. The letter took 14 days. Customs only hold items for 14 days before sending them back...

We'll try again.

Again no Seiko's but I do have this rather nice 1970 Citizen Parawater on the way

Update! it's arrived and far better than the sellers pic suggested
About a minute in the ultrasonic cleaner and this is the result.

Also, a 6138-8000 is on it's way to me. Time to think about strap options, as it comes without bracelet...

i have these four beauties coming. a lord matic, citizen v2, sportmatic and a seiko 5 ss. four of the most sought after (for me). they look to be in relatively good shape. i noticed that the crystal on the V2 is faceted.

I luv the case back on the GS. Is the Lion centerpiece on it brass? Sure looks it. Cool!

The lion is gold, and it was used to designate watches with 'chronometer-grade' movements, from 1960 (starting with the 3180) until about 1966. Most of those were Grand Seikos with 'Chronometer' also on the dial, but it was also used in some King Seikos, and on the first execution of the GS 5722.

Later execution GS 5722's used a gold medallion with "GS" in Seiko's Grand Seiko font, which was carried forward from there.

Also - my wife has a Queen Seiko 'Special' with a gold Crown emblem - not sure how many models used these.

Sure:

In a few years I haven't seen another for sale, until the one up now (although not in collector's condition, except for parts):
http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/195841199
^-- violates live link rules, but c'mon - it's a rusted out ladies watch.

Also, some Kings have their own gold medallion as well:

Looks great, thanks! I really like that linen dial. I've never seen those other KS logos before.
