Default My collection

Here are all the watches I've ever owned bar one. My first watch was a swatch which disintegrated years ago. My second watch was given to me by my parents in the eighth grade, the citizen ana-digi at the very bottom, second from the left. A couple of eco-drives came next, and saw me through 'til about 2005 (the one in the second pic, top-middle and the one in the fourth pic, top second from right). Then I caught the bug...

Wow Jamall, for someone who is relatively new to the forum you have pieces in that collection that show you to be an old and well informed hand at Japanese watch collecting. Nice to see guys like you finally throw your hat into the fray. Please do tell us about your collection. are there any good stories and any highlights or memorable pieces?

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I would've replied earlier, but after the most recent iCab update I am again unable to post from my iPad. The earlier watches I owned were with me through some of the most important events of my life, as they rarely left my wrist. As for watch related stories, the second eco-drive I got in 1999, the D850-H10333 has been through a bit. I was swimming at Byron Bay around New Year's eve 2003 with some mates - few beers and a bit of rough and tumble in the surf - we were having a great time! After retiring to our rented house on the beach for a few hours to avoid the midday sun (and have a few more refreshments) we went back for another swim. My mate was first in, and when he got to about twenty metres from shore he yelled, "Look, I found a watch!". I looked down at my wrist and realised that my precious eco-drive must have come off during the mornings shenanigans. Amazingly it had stayed in the water right where the waves had been breaking for about five hours, and more amazingly, on a very busy beach, one of our party was the first to find it. A bent spring bar was the cause (not my reckless behaviour!). Not being aware of servicing requirements (and having been extremely fortunate up to this point) I was swimming in a gorge in the Northern Territory in 2005 with the same watch and upon checking the time, realised that it had filled with water. An expensive lesson. My appreciation and respect for timepieces has greatly improved since those days, largely because of the experiences and advice shared by the members on this forum.

As for close-ups Jeje, I won't do them all, which in particular would you like to see?

Welcome Jamall, super collection.

The composite is cool, but really hinders the true beauties I'm sure would shine if they were much bigger.
Perhaps posting each box individually might help.

I'd love to see them in their glory. Let them shine thru your pics. ;D

Citizen box looks yummy.

Thanks for sharing. We like eye candy.

Ok here goes, sorry the focus isn't great on some of the more significant pieces like the 6217 and 6105 and I don't have access to a camera at the moment

Definitely modem burner pics here. LOL.

The citizens look great. Especially those last with the chrono sub dial LCD are too cool. Never seen those.
The Seiko Sporturas are cool to I don't see them around.

Cool selection and love the white PAM. ;D

Thanks for sharing again.

Thanks sharkfinDave, unfortunately the Panerai and Brietling are both fakes. The Brietling a friend got for me in SE Asia, the Panerai was given to me by my dad - apparently the case is genuine but with a cheap Chinese movement.

Thanks again. The only things I feel that I'm really lacking are a tuna and an MM300, so until I win the lottery (or one of you kind souls here on the forum decides to donate one, or both) it's going to be a while before this collection feels complete. Oh, and an Aqualand. And a spring drive. And a grand seiko. And...

Amazing collection! Just curious, how long did it take you to reach where you are now?

adrianlee, up until 2005 the only watches I had were the two titanium Eco-drives and the early Citizen Ana-digi diver. I was given a Citizen NY2300 for Christmas 05 or 06, and it went from there. The next (not sure of the order) were the aquamounts, kinetics, and the sumo.

I can think of several reasons why a few boxes full of watches are better than a wife, but I won't go into them here!

Hi, I just joined the forum today. Nice collection!!!
As a real novice with only a newly developed Seiko Addiction, I won't say too much except "great Stuff".

I will stick up a few photos of my little lot, (mostly the Thai limited Edition Monsters, 3 so far) and half a dozen other assorted Divers.
Cheers
