Default 7546 barnfind ...

Hi everyone,

My first post, so a little about me. I'm new to watches, but am into old stuff as a rule, and a museum curator by day.

A few years ago I decided I needed a watch. A good one. One that wouldn't crap out like the old Timex quartz I had through school. Had always *admired* nice watches, but couldn't afford a "nice" one. Dug in, did my research, landed on the venerable SKX007. Hasn't left my wrist much in four or five years now I suppose. I love it and have really become enamored with other Seiko designs.

I like to hit thrift shops occasionally, for the fun of it and because my wallet dictates my shopping. At the thrifts, I always check the watches, and have never found anything of interest in the last year or so after moving from the hinterlands to a larger city. Nada. It's rare they have any kind of men's watch at all, which surprises me. I'd probably do better hitting estate sales, but I digress.

I was pretty excited this last weekend, while visiting family in Lincoln NE, to come across a Seiko SQ 7546-8049, with box, manual and warranty booklet for $8. Doesn't run (just needs a battery I hope), needs a crystal and a *thorough* cleaning. Anyway, I hope to add it esp. on those days I could use a change or something a little dressier. Serial number says it was built in January 1979, paperwork says it was sold in January 1980 at Bolero's on St. Thomas, but no price given, and no name of the buyer.

Anyway, thanks for reading if you've gotten this far.

[Images to come once I hit 5 messages, I guess]

Or perhaps seikophrenics?

You may be developing seikophrenia.
