Default Orient FEZ09004W

What do you think about this watch, looks dressy enough. A touch of bauhaus design, wouldnt you say?
41mm (not too big for a dressy), sapphire, power reserve, all seems like a one great deal!
What do you thin, this or SARB035 (38mm) for a 7.5 inch wrist?

That is a classy looking watch. I have seen some other Orient's on WAYW that I have really liked, also.

Sapphire glass + handwind movement, not sure about hacking but doesnt bother me at all. Think it has some bauhaus design elements in it, it is classical and could be worn as a dressy watch. Power reserve is a great complication as well

I am not sure about bauhaus but a nice looking watch, the dial a bit crowded to be dressy for me though. How thick is this watch? I have the Orient Star wz0011dd, really like the watch but it is a bit on the thick side for a dress watch.

I guess all these decisions come down to personal preference in the end. There are a number of elements which put me off this watch, but won't bother other people.

The main thing is the power reserve and indices at 11, 12 and 1 form a kind of toothy-grin cartoon face. I can't un-see it now.

The small seconds dial is too big and too close to the centre of the dial. I prefer a more classical, smaller sub-dial closer to 6.

The date sub-dial at 9 would be very difficult to read.

Finally the logo at 3 is far too cluttered. A coat-of-arms, the word Orient, the word Automatic and that double-diamond device are all crammed together in a tiny space. They could happily lose at least one of those items and greatly improve the appearance.

Against all that it looks like a nicely finished watch, but overall a bit too busy for my liking. I believe a dress watch should be absolutely simplistic with no more than three hands and minimal markings on the dial. Others will no doubt disagree.

The watch is priced at under 200$, with sapphire crystal and in-house movement. That is the reason for thinking about it, it is a real bargain. Probably it is more of a casual classic then a dressy piece, you have a point there.

Also, it is 41mm (thickness is arround 13mm I think). I still didn't decided yet because at first I wanted to buy SARB035 but I am worried that 38mm is too small for my 7.5 inch wrist. Most of times a wear sport watches like Seiko baby tuna (47mm) or SRPC13 (44mm) and I look sth to wear for work or occasionaly as a dress piece. Maybe Hamilton Viewmatic at 40mm would be a good choice, or a Tissot Visodate but damn that SARB035 is soo sharp and great looking... Seiko cocktails 065 and new ones are too shiny for my taste
A little bit if everything here...

Personally, I'd take any of the three you mentioned (Hamilton, Tissot or SARB035) before the Orient, but I don't know how they compare price-wise. The Hamilton looks more formal to me while the Tissot is a bit more casual but still dressy. And the SARB is a Grand Seiko look-alike. All good choices, but depending on your budget and personal preference.

If you like the SARB035, then go for that. You will not have any issue unloading it if it end up not working out.

I have made the mistake of buying something even though I don't really love it but because it seems like a good deal. In the end it just sits in the closet or drawer, money wasted, taking up space ....

I have bought watches I loved, only to find out that after a while, I was only milk toast about them, and bought watches I was so-so about, only to discover that I REALLY liked them.

Under $200, if you like it, I would probably "watch" for a while to see if the price drops and then grab it.

Also for watches I am uncertain about, I like to think of a purpose or a place they belong in my collection. I personally would also describe that watch as dressy casual, rather than truly formal, and I own several of those. It is the kind of watch I find myself wearing most often.

Yep, untill you put that watch on the hand we only can speculate, desire, make unrealistic conclusions, etc.
I am thinking that SARB035 is too small for me but it has longer lugs so maybe it is just right. Maybe, possible,...
