I have a Orient *** Crystal with the following data on the case back :-
EA 469LD5-72 CA According to the catalogues I've checked the first letters of the series is the movement code. I see everything from EJ to EZ but no EA. Am I missing something obvious? Would appreciate some advice to try and date & value this watch. Many thanks. |

Dating a vintage Orient is notoriously difficult. Numerous approaches have been made directly to Orient and the following is a reply received from Orient (with spelling mistakes as received):
"Dear Mr . Steve Thank you for your e-mail. Unfortunaltely , you can not distinguish date of manufacture by serial number. Thank you for your inquiry. Best Regards, Orient Watch Co., Ltd. Tokyo, Japan Customer Relations +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++" Serial numbers of Orient's newer models read like Seiko

have you tried Dr. Roland Ranftt's excellent movement archives? I saw the following Orient movements there. Maybe you can compare what you have with the pictures there.
