Default Orient M-Force World Time WZ0021EY Review

This is another Japanese Domestic Market model from around 1998 (warranty card shows a purchase date of Sept 2001). Part of the Orient M-Force history.

First released in 1997, the M-Force range stands for 'Mechanical Force'.

Specifications:

Orient WZ0021EY
Orient in house 21 jewel automatic movement
Non hacking or handwinding
Diameter: 40.5 (Approx)
Thickness: 15mm
Lug Width: N/A
Lug to lug: N/A
Stainless Steel case and bracelet (18mm at clasp)
Clam Shell style clasp with safety clasp
Screw Down Case back
Water Resistance: 100m
Crystal: Hardened Mineral

Impressions:

The first impression that this watch gives is of being solidly built. A tool watch look with brushed stainless steel bezel and bracelet. The bracelet is solid links with pins and is of good quality. However, the bracelet is let down by the standard clasp fitted. These clasps were common at the time the watch produced. A clasp similar to the Beast would have been more appropriate in my opinion. That aside the watch wears well and is comfortable on the wrist.

The crown at 4 o'clock is used to set the time, date and 24 hour rotating ring. The 24 hour ring turns counterclockwise as the hands move clockwise, meaning that the time elsewhere in the world can be seen at a glance (apart from daylight saving).

The dial is nice blue with a textured middle.

Another wonderful part of the Orient M-Force history.

Hi! I have this in black dial and it is an amazing watch, eventhough I am looking to sell it to fund new purchases. I agree that Orient is the best value for money mechanical watch brand out there: all of mine are in COSC straight out of the box! Best and thanks, Balvinder

Hello!
I have an Orient M-Force 100M from the same era 1997-98.
I like this robust steel case and the special glass.
regards István

I agree, even for the Seiko 5 series and 7Sxx movement, the Orient watch, be it a vintage or new one, IMVHO is better in accuracy. My only concern is on the power reserve for the vintage ones. The newer models are up to 50hours, maybe even more for some Orient star.

Went to the Orient AD, and saw two skeleton design. :-)

Cheers,
Jef
