Default Help with Black 6309 day/date wheel

Can anyone tell me if the seiko 6306-7000/1, 6309-7040/9 ever came with a black day and date wheel? If so was it a specific year? Are these rare? Or was it only made for the 6309-7029? Thanks in advance.

I don't think any of the cushion case divers ever came with black day and/or date wheels. People do like to retro fit them though. They're not too hard to find, the wheels from the 6306, 6309, 6106, 6119, 7548, and 7546 movements will fit, just make sure they're from a watch with the crown at 4 and have dual day languages. The English / Kanji black day wheel is sought after and quite rare though.

I don't remember seeing an original 6309-7290 with black wheels either?

I don't think any 61xx movement day/date wheels will work, as that movement isn't the same family as the 63xx and 75xx movements.

A few of the 7546 Silverwave's had black instead of white, and as above it has to be a 4'clock crown movement.

Just had a quick google search and it seems 6319's had them.. so if you find a 4'oclock crown version it'll work.

More ebay'ing.. there's a handful of 6349's that have the 4'oclock crown and black day/date wheels.. so i'd be grabbing one of them.

Why people hunt a 6306 movement for upjewelling when the 6349 is better and cheaper is beyond me when i see them for like $20 on there from India..

The 6106 wheels are compatible, I've done the swap myself. I've not swapped wheels from a 6119, but the received wisdom is that they are compatible, and given the 6106 is compatible I've no reason to doubt that the 6119 also. There are some 61XX that have a single language on the day wheel, these are not suitable.
