Default Citizen 52-0110 Advice needed please

Hi everybody,

First of all, i am very glad to have found your forum and been able to join you.
My name is Koen and i am from Holland.

This is my 52-0110.

As you can see the crown is unscrewed and it will not be screwed back in.
A nos replacement crown has been found, but i am not sure if it is the crown or the crown tube that is the problem.

I have made some close up photos of the crown tube and need your expertise for determining where the problem is at.

Hope you all would like to share your knowledge with me.

Thank you for your reply DAHASCO, what are you're thoughts about the threads on the tube? do they look sharp or dull?

Well, The threads start as expected and are sharp where they need to be. I am no expert in the area. Can you get a pic of the crown threads ? TIA

As far as I know it is original. It used to screw down, even if it was just for 1/4 turn.

I will just order the crown and see.

For now it's reassuring that it's probably not the crown tube.

Update:
i have been able to open the case and remove the stem/crown. after removing the movement i have tried to screw the crown on to the case, which worked.

after putting it back together i managed to screw the crown back on the tube, still the lousy 1/4 turn but at least it worked.

while the crown and stem were loose/ out of the case and movement, i found out that the stem had bent a few degrees. I would think that is not how its supposed to be, but lucky me i have a new stem & crown on it's way to holland.

Thanks for all your help Dahasco & Speedseiko

Hi Koen, these are great watches. Where did you source your new crown from? I have one with a similar issue.
Best regards,
Ross

Well done finding one with such a great-looking bezel insert. There are so many 52 0110s out there (mine included) crying out for a decent reproduction insert.

Repro insert isn't as nice as original imho besides its from an earlier model, but better than nothing?

Thanks for the tip John. Mine is currently wearing a Crystal times repro (in blue), which is a good copy of the 62-6198 bezel (the dots don't go all the way around like the 52-0110 and the pip isn't recessed). Its not totally accurate, but its great quality and looks a lot better day-to-day than the original which is badly scratched up!
