Default Is eBay a safe place to purchase?

I'm thinking about buying one of the new Cocktail Time Seiko watches (SRPB43) and I am looking at a few different retailers. Can anyone shed any light on the eBay vendors who seem to have this watch around $80 cheaper than Amazon. I'm struggling to find any bad reviews or other hints that they could be counterfeit. Is it possible these are imports and that's why they are so cheap?

Unfortunately I can't post a link to any of these because I'm new to the forum. But an eBay search for Seiko SRPB43 gives several sellers with this watch at around $240.

Any advice welcome!

If it's too good to be be true, it isn't true.
There are counterfeit Cocktail Times about and fake SKX, too.

This is no longer a India puppy mill, but large scale Chinese production.

Regarding the Cocktail time, there are a few tells: silver rotor, bracelet clasp and... Something else I forgot.

That's interesting that the counterfeit market seems more sophisticated now. The watches I'm looking at have nothing obviously wrong - correct rotor color, well printed faces, correct shape of crown. The price isn't suspiciously low, and I could believe that these might be "grey imports" shipping direct from the Asian market. Anyway I think I'll stay away just because I'm happy to pay the extra for peace of mind. Thanks!

Beware of the guy in India AND Germany. Both are putting together CT and Presage watches. I say putting together because I feel some parts are OEM and some are AM. One has filtered through to ebay UK and while I informed the seller it was NOT OEM and passed him the reasons he made no attempt to amend his description. Even he knew it was not right but went ahead to deceive people.

Here's the ebay UK fake,

The most obvious differences are the movement and the shape of the crown which they cannot get right. They seem to be using the 4R35A movements with unplated rotors whereas genuine OEM have 4R35B with gold plated rotors. The fake crowns have straight knurls (splines) whereas on the OEM the knurl (spline) has a slight convex look.

The remaining parts really do look OEM.

$240 is too cheap, which it is, but I purchased a genuine CT, early model 6R movement, S/H but superb condition for 120.

Sorry, I thought you wrote the price was 80 usd. 240 seems possible.

Beware though that dodgy settlers sometimes use pics of the original watches.

And stay clear of wish.com!
