Default e-bay orange arnie ok?

i've never had an arnie, and i like tunas, and i have a modded
monster i wear. so, i saw this for what seemed like a cheap
price on e-bay. the seller sent it right away, it made it across
the country in less than 2 days. i've looked at these before,
the one i bought for $699 was in way better condition than
watches costing over a g.

so here are photos, i wonder if the arnie experts can let me
know if all's ok. it's in really nice condition, from 1982, frosting
around the wave, maybe the shroud is a replacement? dial
is beautiful, strap feels like a modern replacement and it's fine.
i took it in the closet and the light works, dimly. i don't understand
why i got a good price on it so i wonder if anything seems
off here. maybe the seller was just a nice guy

thanks for any help,

Quite nice Peter. From photos seems all-original including the shroud to my eye.

The orange dial has always been my favorite Arnie.

thanks jon!

the shroud has a rub or two, i removed it just to check the
whole thing out, the plastic feels quite flexible. crystal is
almost perfect. lume pip has been knocked out of flush.
i mean, that is really minor stuff. the ones on e-bay look
like they were worn by dragon slayers.....

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

i'll take any good luck i can get...

honestly, i was trying really hard NOT to buy it, as i just
have too many, but it looked like too good a deal to pass
up, and as it turns out, it was! and, i like the arnie a lot.
i really bought it because the new reissue is not going to
come in orange.

I can't really speak to originality, but it is nice to see one that doesn't look like it's been on a dragon quest or 3, as you mentioned. The caseback has lived some life, but doesn't look like the owner had a go with needle-nose pliers, and the shroud screws haven't been subjected to attack by a dull beaver. That looks like a win. Congratulations, Peter!

thanks craig,

i don't think the shroud had ever been removed, i had to use vice grips
on the (tiny) screwdriver to get enough grip...i feel lucky that i don't
really care what a caseback looks like, i know lots of people do, but that's
a place where i'm willing to relax a bit. i think lots of watches get slided
around on surfaces with random grit, and no harm is done anywhere
but the caseback, which is essentially indestructible.

best caseback i ever saw was on a squale, it has vigorously cross-
hatched, the thing really stayed put on the wrist and was scratch-proof.
