Default New 6139-6009 Resist-Resist

Hello smarter-than me folks. I pulled the trigger and got this off the bay. It violated my rule on lume, but it was being sold through a vintage broker who has a 15 day return policy, so I said what the heck. The watch:

So I pulled the case back and wow! Looks great!

Here it is on the timegrapher. It’s very healthy.

Here is what I missed. The crown is wrong but it does turn the inner bezel!

So what do you think happened to the lume to make it so black??? The dial is gorgeous I think and the movement is clean so was this water???

Nice watch, I think a re-lume will transform its appearance, lume jobs are really easy on these type if raised hour markers and the old lume should come off easily. The damage has probably been caused by the ingress of moisture due to old crown and pusher (or caseback) gaskets.

I am not an expert on these but I think the crown may be OK as I have had a few 6139-600X's with non dimpled crowns.

Thanks for this. I’ll get it relumed in short order since I know that much blackness is bad for the dial. Funny thing too is that the crystal seems new so someone did that without reluming the dial.

Looking for the same watch myself. Harder and harder to find a 1969 birth year Seiko

I thought all the 69's were Proofs and the Resists started in 1970?

That said, good looking watch! I have one with the black grunge on the lume. I haven't done anything about it as I don't want someone to botch it up.

Well to save others the effort, I learned this from the site.

So Resists for the US market started in 1969. Cool!
