Default 6139 questions

Hi....

Im hoping the forum can help me.....im Interested to know when the 6139 first became available? At that time it became the first automatic chronograph....is that accurate?

Can anyone tell me what model watch first made it to market? Was it a Seiko 5 Sports Speedtimer? Id like to search for a very early first 6139 and any help on identifying date and model is most appreciated.

That is debatable. The chronomatic group also sold limited amounts of pieces in early 1969. The 6139s came available somewhere in the spring of 69.

There are 6139's that date to a February 1969 production. I have one. When they were actually sold is debatable, but I'd guess March of 1969 at the latest. My belief is that the 6139 is the first auto chronograph to be sold to the general public but that argument can be (and has been) parsed many different ways.
