Default Pogue reveal

If you can open the photo links I can at last reveal my Christmas eve purchase of what was a tired old Sept '71 6139-6005 gold dial found in my local watch retail shop in town.
We are very close to Upper Heyford which was an American F111 air base, I wonder if this is how it found it's way here?

Can't show refurb pics or much detail as I didn't do any of the work.

I can say though it involved a service, all dial, hands, bezel & case originals were very nice so of course were kept, a good clean up, plus the bracelet reworked with Larry (UncleSeiko) end links added and of course a new crystal.
The stem was broken and it's gear missing, we got very lucky with spares.

My before and after pics.

Nice result there Steve.

With your imgur links you need to find the link that ends in .jpg. You then wrap this with [IMG] picture link goes here [*forward slash*IMG]

* replace with a /

It's also called the "BBCODE" link on the imgur site.

Amazing what difference a fresh crystal can make. Was the scratching around 4 o'clock polished off?

Yes, very gently, there is still small evidence there but it was decided to do minor dressing and keep the original case instead of going with the first thought of changing the case.
If you look real close the outer bezel has also a small ding at the same point.
It must have been dropped heavily in the past, maybe even how the stem got snapped, but that is the vital history of the watch although I just wanted the worst bit reducing a little.

That's a terrific find.

I was never a fan of the Pogues until fairly recently.

Beaut, and inner indicator ring has hardly faded, looks a fantastic scoop? Good price? Or did the shop have an idea what it was?

And to top it all off, what a dial !

Barely a start to the red subdial ring, no black anywhere. Superb !

We so often see watches that are beaten up on the outside have great hands and dials behind the crystal, having been worn heavily but not messed with revealed quite a treasure when serviced and given a new crystal.
The watch shop decided finding parts and sub contracting out the work wasn't worth it so I got lucky on the day at £40
My eternal thanks to pollyc who did it all for me.

Terrific find and beautiful work. I’ll post a similar aged one shortly for some questions.

That one looks so pristine. Did they just keep it inside a drawer for decades?
