Default More Ebay dishonesty

At least this did not cost a lot. I ordered a beat up dial and received a even more beat up dial.

Ordered this...

Received this....

Got this response from the seller...

"Hello,
would you please take a closer photo of the dial, because I do not have another same item in stock.
I believe it is broken when it is on the way. If you do mind, you can send it back and I will fixed it.
Please let me know anyway.
Thanks !"

I hate when things get broken when its on the way. At least he can fix it for me.

and with eBay's new policy you will have to pay the shipping to return the dial. Most likely the picture was pulled from another listing. The seller probably is just hoping it's not worth it for you to send it back and wins all the way around. I would have to guess that is a classic bait and switch. I could see if it was not properly packed how the pin could have been knocked of but how does all of the numbers disappear from the dial due to poor packing. I would open a case with eBay myself and keep on them until I received a full refund without having to pay to ship what obviously is not the same dial in the picture.
I have had success in getting results by blasting them on shady stuff like this when i bought a Seiko 7T62 that was advertised as fully functional. When i received it it was not. The seller asked if I would try a new battery before sending it back so I did which did not work of course. So when i went to return it he called eBay and told them I opened up the watch and damaged it and eBay denied the return.
I called eBay and tore them a new one. I asked did you even read the emails? HE is the one who asked me to open up the watch when I asked to return it. In the end the scumbag seller kept his money from his scam and eBay issued me a courtesy refund for some reason? From now on anything I receive that is not exactly as described gets returned without trying to resolve it with the seller like eBay wants you too. I played by their rules and they tried to screw me so screw eBay. Return it as item in picture was not the item I received. I would open up a claim now if I were you.

Also please post the sellers name so the rest of us do not get ripped of by crooks like this. How is he going to repair the wiped out numbers on the sub dial? Maybe send the dial in the picture he posted instead of the one he actually sent you?

Yea this whole thing sucks. Probably stuck with this crap. His ebay user name is hibidbid. I am going to open a claim today, but its a shame that the buyer has to deal with this. On top of all this I am dealing with someone that claims a watch I sold does not run but does not want to send it back and will not show proof that its not running. He just wants a partial refund. I have offered to pay shipping both ways on top of the refund.

Good catch on that auction John. Everything looks and reads good besides the photocopy part.

Just lay into eBay good. A blind man can see those are two different dials. Even the back. The picture had the Seiko original two digit number on the back of the dial. The one you received not only are the printed numbers missing but it also has those two black lines across it.
As far as the guy who refuses to send it back I am pretty sure eBay policy is you can return it if you claim it is not as advertised but you can not keep the item and demand money. I would call eBay and make that 100% clear that you offered a full refund and the buyer refused. If you get it back and he has robbed it I would call eBay again. If you give them a hard enough time they often will wimp out and refund the seller and give you your money back. It worked for me when I went nuts on them.

Not sure why anybody mentions Ebay. If paid with Paypal it's there that your open you dispute and claim. For a misrepresent items there are very lslim chances for the seller to win the claim, and even if they did, you still have another layer of protection with the C/C issuer.

It's always useful to be kept informed about dishonest sellers and their latest scams.

Agree, my only point is that you have to Paypal and in rare cases to the C/C issuer for solution.
