Good to hear, i'm particularly interested in the day wheel swap too. ;)
Will another special wheel remover tool be needed? or basic tools are good?

Thanks John, great work here and sharing your wisdom.

I'm following and haven't had too much time to do all.

Cheers, Dave.

Here's the dial...

It looks good to me.

One question about the movement retaining ring spring...

As seen above, the spring does not go fully around the circumference of the ring.  I'm assuming that's what makes it a spring, however I got paranoid that it was broken.  Which is it?

Beautiful dial  :) the retaining ring does not go the full circumference of the case back there is a "gap".

Thank you for your compliments on the dial.

What about those hands though?  What can be done for them?  If not do I replace them?  Or does their worn charm add to the character of the watch?

I think the hands are pretty good but you could always clean them up and relume them ?

i don't know where else in project to put this but here it goes

so i got this 6309 dress watch the other day (thanks Dan) and the movement was beautiful and for 1.5 days it kept great time. but then one day i wore it and about half way through the day it started fogging up. so i took it off set it on the dashboard hours later still running and not fogged up i put it back on. then it fogged back up, it was late so i went to bed. in the morning still running i took the movement out and let it sit with silica in one of the plastic containers i have for movements, also on movement holder.

finally the PROBLEM --- now it won't run for more than 2 minutes without vigorous shaking.

Any one know where I can find a casing spring? My spring is about 35 percent rust 65 steel. Paulynn Collections on the bay has a  after market 6309 movement holder version with no spring. Before buying that I want to see if there is any NOS lying around.
