Showm me your ADVAN!
« on: July 21, 2010, 05:56:02 AM »
Hi all

I wouldn't mind seeing some photo's of your funky Advan's if you have any.  Here's mine that came in the mail the other day, it is the hacking 7039 7010.

thanks

Col

Wow that's weird how it has the brass dot inset into the case!

Ours are nearly the same, mine has the Kanji date and different band.

Yeah, I like the size of them too, there is a blue one like this selling   on Yahoo Japan at the moment that I hope to win.   Does anyone have any   idea how many different variants were made of the ADVAN, there seems to   be a lot of green ones out there.

This is purple phasing into blue...sorry for the poor pic, just did it on my iphone
I love Advans because they generally sell at relatively low prices - and I love the OTT colours, shapes and styles, very 70's!
However, if the glass goes then you are going to be looking high and low for a replacement!

Are you talking about original Seiko replacement or after market?  I just ordered a replacement Sternkrauz crystal from Cousins for the one I have.  I was also going to buy another Advan with a weird faceted crystal that was knackered.  Before I bid on it I looked to see if a crystal was available and there were replacements available in plastic, not the real deal I know but better than a dirty scratched up crystal.

Fell in love with this on a friend's wrist and begged him to trade!.. or something like that..

Anyway, it's a 7019-7320, same movement as an Actus.

Col- that is good to know!
I never tried to source one I just guessed with the unusual shapes that it would be very hard to find any kind of replacement
