I'm having some trouble with a 6308-8030 that I'm part way through neatening up.
When I popped the old crystal out, the associated gasket and retaining rings came out in a hurry, so I wasn't 100% how they went back.
I have, starting from the case, a case recess, thin retaining ring with a tiny step, flat gasket, crystal, outer retaining ring/bezel. The o-ring is pretty much same of as the crystal so it must seat flat against the back of the crystal. I had assumed that the tiny step in the inner ring was meant for the o-ring to locate in, but it doesn't, so I'm not 100% on the purpose of the step.
Trouble I'm having is after fitting a new crystal, twice, both times the seal has moved a touch such that you can see it sticking out a little under the crystal.
Does it sound like I have the parts in the correct orientation? Is it just a matter of trying to ensure everything stays dead central, in place, whilst clamping down, to prevent the gasket moving around?
Seems like a poor system, but then I'm used to divers which usually have a more purposeful sealing arrangement.
Shame I can't find a casing diagram
