So I'm unloading 4 of my favorite Seikos for an incoming MM300.
Would you have done the same? Too late because the MM300 is en route
to me but would love to hear your thoughts!

I'm unloading a Tuna, Sammie, SKX-PMMM, and a Spork. A little stressed because the Sammie & Spork will be
difficult to obtain in the future.....Hold my hand and tell me its going to be ok....

^-^ ,  We all have our own criteria and preferences but I would say go for it, although I would want to hang on the the Samurai .

Hi Mike,

I know. The Sammy is a great watch. I actually have a croc strap en route for it during this whole process of
hunting down a MM300. I haven't even mounted it yet. Maybe I'll wear it for a few days before letting it go....or maybe
I'll just keep it and try to sell one of my girl's handbags   >:D

  • This one goes straight to the pool room.
Nooooo! Don't do it!

You'll miss'em so much! (Assuming these are not doubles in your collection!)

I would try to raise the money another way if you want the MM, sell a kidney, stop smoking for a couple of weeks, visit some fountains and pick up the change people chuck in, win the lottery, endear yourself to a distant, dying relative, muscle in on the girl scouts when they come to your door to sell cookies...

... Whatever it takes, but hold on to these great watches!

For me, I would sell them all except the SBBN007 and Samurai.

Just been down the same path. Got my MM last week and I am stoked. Kept my SBBN015 but got rid of the rest of the herd. Never seen an MM300 before except in forums but delighted with the real thing. You only live once. Viva the MM300 :) . A true watch icon.

You are very wise and have given me some ideas about raising funds....esp. knocking off the girl scouts for their cookie money...ingenious as
well as free cookies.  :bravo_2:

Ok here`s my take on it ,I have just recently culled 9 of my collection to fund a Grail ,I hunted and lusted after these watches for a long as I can remember
Some of them I told myself I would never sell ,however I still don`t know what happened ,but when I went to the watchbox and opened it up to change watches over ,I was uninspired by what I saw ,also if If only changed over once a day I was only wearing one of the 14 only once a fortnight. But to get my grail and fund it they had to get the chop I`m afraid

So I started the cull and to be honest while I miss some of them ,I absolutely love my Grail and cannot stop wearing it.I think for me my collection is now better balanced.

I know this is a very personal choice and only you can make the decision

Anyways here`s the watches that made way for the Grail.

And here`s my newish Grail I love this watch better than any I have ever owned ,The Spring Drive is just awesome still hasnt lost or gained a second in nearly 3 weeks.

I'm with Mr Watchfreek on this one - it is very easy to become attached to a larger and larger collection, but at the end of the day, you can only wear one watch at a time (yes, I know that they can be worn on both wrists and some WIS have probably tried their ankles too :-[ ) Agreed, there are some watches which I will never sell, but these are only the very top drawer, and even then, if I don't actually wear them, I do question why I hold on to them... I say liberate yourself - go for your grail - i very much doubt if you will regret it, and if you find that there is a watch that you really cannot bear having sold - well at least you still have a new grail to hunt for! :)

Thanks guys for feedback!!

I just needed that bit of encouragement!

My MM300 is on its way from Hong Kong and I can't wait. I've been wanting one for a while
but either I was never fast enough on the well priced ones or they were too banged up.

So I decided for now that the SBBN017, PMMM are definitely on the way out.

I'm still very fond of the Spork on bracelet & Ti Sammy on leather......
But I guess I won't have a choice once the bills start coming in :(

Nope....not a trade thread...Once I decide which ones to let go first they most certainly will either go in the trade section or Ebay...
This thread was not meant to stir anything up..... I may be new here but not to watch forums in general and always abide
by forum rules... Regards, David

Good to know David   but some times this type of thread can be a back door promotion thread, show case certain watches, mention that some will be sold in the hope that offers will then come flooding in and then the OP is never seen again.

I understand. Nope...no back door...It was just a way of introducing a bit of my collection
to this great forum. I've been perusing this forum without posting for a while.
I'm a bit more active on the WUS Seiko subforum....Anyways...as far as my colllection...I haven't even decided for sure if all them HAVE to go..
I was just sharing my pain. I'm hoping when the MM300 comes in it'll ease all of that :)
I think I'll unload the PMMM & Sammie first....And then see where I'm at...
Also I can't do any of this until I get back home...I'm visiting the parents in Korea...which of course lead me to being on
the watch forums excessively...which then lead me to finding a well priced MM300....which then lead me to this predicament :)
I still haven't adjusted to the time difference from NYC (where I'm from)....I'm up at the most random hours stalking the forums

I will definitely update this thread with my new (well used) MM300 and let you know if it was all worth it....

I always think If I sell off my collection I can get my grail. The problem is once I get my grail, new watches start becoming interesting (especially the ones I've sold) then the cycle starts again. :banghead:

This is not a normal hobby, it's an addiction!

THIS IS exactly my problem....I know the MM300 is going to be beautiful and I will enjoy it...but I've come to realize
that its the hunting/collecting/searching/modding/projects that keep me really enthralled in this hobby....

I feel like selling off these watches is SUCH a short term solution to this addiction...
I'm pretty sure I'll wear the MM300 non-stop for a while...but then the sickness will seep in again...

Where does it all end??? Probably me in some sort of therapy situation...  :a102:

Guess what usps.com just said...

"Your item has been processed through our sort facility in ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS) at 7:20 am on January 09, 2013"

That means it'll arrive within 2 days.....Except I'm in Korea for another 2 weeks....LOL.. I'm going to have
my girl unwrap it and show it to me over Skype....
