Stem and crown for Citizen Cal.6750 - G70196 TA watch..
« on: November 12, 2012, 10:45:22 AM »
Hello,
My restoration project and a problem.
Looks to be broken stem, broken at the end of the crown, some winding of stem left in a crown..
I have searching true web for some days and could not find a replacement stem for this caliber.
If anyone has some useful address for this part, will be very grateful.
Movement itself is totally OK and working. There is still enough stem left out the movement you can pull it out and set the watch. But of course, not to fix the crown once movement in case..
I really like this movement and would like to make this watch fully functional…

Regards, Davorin

You'd be better asking this on the main Japanese forum, the stem you need appears to be 065-379.  It's used in many Citizen /Miyota movements. Here is a post on a watch repair which uses the same stem http://forums.watchuseek.com/f6/fixing-up-freebie-548246.html

Hello “7s26b”..and thank you !!
Yes, as far I discover from service manual, stem seem to be 065-376..and 065-379 seem to be replacement for it.
Haven’t found 065-376 anywhere, but 065-379 are available on some places.
This is the first time I have to deal with something like this with watches, so I’m a little stiff..
You guess 065-379 is a safe to order, will fit..?
Still can’t find a firm that would ship parts to Europe..or sell me only one piece… ???
So far I have only deal with cosmetics on cases, belts.
I do collaborate with two watchmakers here, no problems with service, glass replacing and so on, but both refuse to search for other parts for this watch….

P.S. Would be glad to move this in some other more suitable forum section, but don’t have a clue how.. Maybe some administrator can help..

Regards

Hi
If there are still some threads left on the snapped stem you can use a stem extender, they come in loads of tap sizes and are pretty strong, they are about 50p each or so to buy from watch parts supply houses in the uk,
all you need to do is get the tap size of the one you already have, vernier calipers work well for that job, You can then fit it with a dab of thread locker, and then trim to size,
best of luck with it,

Hello.  ;)
Unfortunately stem extenders cannot be used here, because their side with inner thread is too thick, don’t fit into casing hole for stem /crown. No room for place it somewhere else, movement itself is very large in diameter, fills entire casing.
Nice solution, thanks, have tried, but is not possible with this watch..

Have sourced this part, stem, in USA, by Jules Borel & Co. , but min. order for shipping outside USA is 30 USD… ???

Hello again,

Here is what I received from Jules Borel & Co.
I’m new at this, first time I ever search for some watch part, some of you probably deal with them already.
Not sure from their reply, will they deal with someone not in “retail business” at all..??

We are a supplier for Jewelers and Watchmakers
and ask that you see your local Jeweler or Watchmaker
if you are not a retail business.

Our minimum order requirement is
$30.00 for orders shipped outside the United
States.

Pretty sure I have them in stock - will check tomorrow when I'm in the workshop.  If you'd like one send me a PM with your details and I'll let you know once I've checked.

Hi
If joe has not  got any to hand you can order one here http://www.cousinsuk.com/searchresults.aspx?searchtext=065-379  for about £2 plus shipping, you will have to tick the little box when ordering to say you understand they are  business to business sales only but all the uk WIS use them without problems, no minimum order either
best of luck

Project finished!
Here are some photos, one by eBay seller where I purchase watch, and now..
Unfortunately, although stated as defect and in real sorry visual shape even it was still obviously “dressed up” for selling display..
Once received it in try it, crown with half a stem fell off, when opened; movement, pieces of parts and some hands just fell out also..
Broken off dial, broken movement holder ring, loose pushers, crown, stem.. ???
Would toss it easy, but curious as I’m, fit battery in movement, some hands start to move !

So here it is now. Must say, this feels almost as join project with forum member here; Joe Horner.
Watch needed new parts, some of them had to be made, gluing stuff,  fitting.. would never put this thing together on my own. Thanks again for sourcing parts and even more for spot on advices on every stage. Watch now works flawlessly, only looks different..
What I actually did on my own is replacing glass, renewing housing and belt.
It originally hade gold plated bezel with markings..so badly worn and scratched I decided to brush everything of and polish, made it simple stainless steel look. It’s definitely not everyone’s taste, especially not for hard –core original collectors, but it work for me and will were it gladly.

It was a pleasure to help out, and nice to see the finished watch.

I must say, I like that look you've got.  Watches with markers on everything will go in and out of fashion but the simple, clean, look you've got there is timeless  :bravo_2:
