What i have noticed is that guys are still displaying there emails in the trade forum which is imo asking for trouble

That's why I always use PM's when selling on a forum. That way I know the seller is a member, and who they are.

As for payment, I usually ask for PayPal gift, but certainly wouldn't begrudge someone for not wanting to use it if they don't know me. Interestingly, I've sold maybe 50 or so watches on several fora, and never once has someone asked for a reference.

I don't get a chance to get scammed most of the members i have contacted about buying a watch they have advertised on this and other forums either don't reply or start negotiations then cease all communications without even an explanation, the last one was on this forum just a couple of weeks ago, so bloody rude

:iagree:  But are the "bloody rude" ones frequent posters on this forum?

Any number of possibilities.  Could also be "testing the market" to see if they really want to sell a watch they may be reluctant to part with in the first place.  Regardless, if we "enter the market" we have to be prepared to deal with all types, some possibly weird.  JMHO.
