Both of mine are in pretty good shape.  I guess I would refer to them as "daily wear" rather than "beater".  They have enough character marks to keep me from worrying about knocking them around, and I only take them off for the most severe tasks (like major work on the car).

When I am not wearing that one, it's a '73 6139-6005:

This G-Shock Riseman gets the most wrist time of all my watches. It just fits my wrist perfectly and may be the most comfortable of all my watches. It also has some useful interesting features with temperature, barometric pressure and altitude.

  • Life is too short for G-Shocks.

As I switch watches every day i do not have any beater as in everyday watch.
Strangely this one is probably in most use this winter.
Bought mostly as to fit in my collection, but I do not know why, just like it a lot and wear it a lot.

During hot and wet summer I tend to wear a little bit newer watches on bracelet.

I guess I only have one Seiko that qualifies for the beater category:

Picked up this SKX173 last year from a fellow forum member, and it's seen a fair share of action as you can tell, but it's got great lume and is very accurate.  :great:
I've got a new crystal and bezel insert for it, but if I replace those parts, Im sure I'll have a case of the "Aurelius-syndrome" - all of a sudden it'll be too nice to be a beater.  ;D

I think my favorite daily-wearer for normal tasks would be the SBCM023:

Light on the wrist and wears well due to its smaller size, super-accurate, perpetual calender, decent lume and water-resistance. Goes well with almost any outfit.
What could be better?

If I need something for really dirty and/or tough jobs, I'll go for one of my G-Shocks like the G-7900 for instance:

Relatively cheap, always ready, virtually indestructable, and great timing features on top of that.

Bought it on the sales forum for around 50 bucks. No need to baby it, but I can always expect it to work perfectly, and the eco-drive means that I can expect the gaskets to be solid for many years to come..

Great watch.

Bjorn   I find Daily wearer  fits rather then Beater    Your Grand Seiko Chronometer is just Beautiful

I cannot imagine that  as a Beater  A Beautiful Vintage Seiko  what ever it's called

A Very Special Seiko  as the rest of your Collection.

If by beater you mean one that you use and that is all scratched up I don't have one...  ???   I have some watches I wear on a regular basis... like this one that I am wearing today, but I take great care not to scratch it or beat it up...  ;D

Like some people on this site... I change watches almost daily... One I like to wear if the going can get rough is this very inexpensive used Casio Pathfinder PAS400B-5V Fisherman. If it breaks...get another, they are very good but can be easily replaced.

But here is my prized beater of all time, maybe 38 years old and have used it most of those years with only a couple of plexiglass changes and have it with an aftermarket Jubilee which looks quite original. I hope it is not sacrilegious puuting it in the Japanese watch area. This has not been a sissy watch and has never seen any delicate care... tough as nails.
