Is there any going back after having an ana-digi?
« on: February 02, 2012, 05:24:31 PM »
I currently have one of the Citizen Wingman models with analog hands, digital readout and slide rule. I've had the watch for about 5 years now. I have become so accustomed to using the digital timer, chrono and alarm functions, as well as using the slide rule, that I find it hard to even consider a watch that's not ana-digi. I just bought a Seiko Sportura SNJ019 which is also ana-digi, but had to give up the slide rule, which was very hard. I just wondered if any of you other ana-digi junkies start suffering withdrawl when you wear a straight analog watch.

My trusty Wingman- model JQ8006-53E

My new toy...Seiko SNJ019 (without slide rule and backlight I might add...)

I have one other ana-digi that I suppose I could have shown but forgot. So....here it is. It's a Citizen Promaster Navitach model JQ8020-52L that's still in great condition. I missed a great deal on a Tag Heuer Aquaracer Chronotimer last week. If I'd have bought that one, this watch and the Seiko probably would have been sold to fund the Tag. I'm not wearing this one much at all though, so it's probably on it's way out to create a fund pool for the next, best watch. :)

I wear a slightly scruffy Seiko H021 quite often, and I recently picked up a mint, almost NOS one of ebay for a very good price!
My scruffy one first....

And then the lovely mint one.....

It's not too bad. Instead of a second hand, it has a series of 60 small squares around the outside of the digital face that count off the seconds. I'd trade that for a nice orange second hand. The watch has a chrono (records to 1/1000 second and does split and lap times), countdown timer, two alarms, and of course the standard display which shows date, day of the week, and digital time. It has the functions I wanted and use frequently, but does not have a backlight or slide rule. I'm in the market now to get those features back. A Breitling Chronospace would fit the bill nicely, but the bill to buy it is way beyond what I want to pay for a watch. I'm still looking though.

Well, I had this one,

I like the style, size and weight... Just couldn't get used to the gold highlights. Gave it to my Bro-in-law for his b-day. ;)

Still have this one...  :o

...still running, USED to wear it for a very brief time (which is probably why I can't go back to the gold highlights ;D )  . I'm planning on giving to a retired great neighbor who loves small, square and gold watches.

And for old school cool....
I still have this one,
Seiko, Bond Seiko............. :great:

Hey Bob!

Is this a French Airforce issued one with markings on the back - or the civilian model?

Anyway - a cool watch to have  :great:

Well, the Seiko SNJ017 sports a second hand and a slide rule, but still lacks a backlight.

The Citizen  Skyhawk AT has a backlight, too. (pic linked from the SCWF review here: http://www.thewatchsite.com/index.php/topic,4165.0.html )

I wear them much more than any of my analog watches, cause I use the alarm and stopwatch on a daily basis.

And yep, I´m with Robert on this - once I have an analog watch on my   wrist - I start missing the digital part and all the other functions  :57:

  Hey Bob!

Thanks for clarify that. It does not have to be the french issued one,   cause it´s still a really nice and rare watch anyway - I like it a lot
Its Y652 movement is exactly the same one as in the Breitling Pluton or the Navitimer 3100 - just a different label on it.
And this Pulsar is an even rarer watch to find - The Breitlings are out there, but this Pulsar - you have to look longer to find one.
So thanks again for posting this nice piece.

Why I buy watches?

Because I think I am buying time!

That Navitach is the best movement Citizen made.

I have to confess, I have 24 (Some have different names on the front like Elgin, Bulova, Accurist, Festina).

I've given several away to soldiers, and Firefighters  who love them.

That C460 movement can't be beat.

Keep the pics coming of the various old and new ana-digis out there. I sort of like my new Seiko SNJ019, but I'm certainly not falling in love with it. I missed a chance about one week ago to pick up a Tag Heuer Aquaracer Chronotimer in excellent condition for $550. The guy said he had two and only needed one, but that it was about 1 minute slow a day and he was not going to invest the money to figure out why. I figure a new battery and a movement cleaning might have cleared that problem up. But I saw the listing about 1-2 too late and someone else bought it. I was very unhappy for the next couple of days. That watch has about everything but the slide rule, but would have been VERY NICE!

Not much of a chrono user.  But I did pick up this ana-digi because it was thin enough (10.7MM thick) and small enough (42MM diameter) plus it was solar and cheap.

Been wearing my H601 "almost Arnie" since my wife got it for me in 91.
Was one of my two watches I owned (the other a 7002 Diver) for about ten years.
