27J Movement Information
« on: January 19, 2012, 03:55:41 AM »
Does anyone here have any general information about when the 27J movements came out? I have read on some posts - usually on the Frankenbell ones- that 'they never came out with a 27J movement with this case' but I have not read any information about exactly what cases they did come out with the more expensive movements. I have seen that the casing guides are not really complete so I was just wondering when my radar should come up when looking at 27J movements for sale.  Thanks Marc

...might be easier to identify the styles that do not have 27J movements, then reverse the math/results. The -604x line comes to mind, as does the -605x through the -606x, -607x, and -608x. If memory serves, these are all post-1974/5 introductions to the Belle line. Looking forward to other comments on this useful topic!  :great:

As far as I know, the 27 jewels movement was available in the following cases:

4005-700 (27J only)   7000T AD and 7010T dials

4006-600                  6000T dial
4006-602                  6040T dial

4006-700                  7000T AD and 7070T AD dials
4006-701                  7010T AD, 7040T AD (Business Bell) and 7050/1/2/4 dials
4006-702                  7000T AD and 7060/1/2/4 dials

There might be further examples, but I would consider that to be very unlikely. Why?
In the case that movements with different jewel numbers were built into the same case style, this cannot be detected via the case number - but it shows on the dial number.

Example:
4006-600 with 27J --> 4006-6000T dial
4006-600 with 17J --> 4006-6030T dial

Will update the dial list in the evening, it might be incomplete or contain errors since I don't have full access to my data at the moment  ;)

Best,
Hermann
