4006A with constant alarm--please help
« on: January 14, 2012, 07:46:11 PM »
My bellmatic 4006A was just serviced. On reassembly, it was noted that with the alarm button out and the alarm spring wound, the alarm sounds constantly, without regard to the setting of the alarm ring. It shuts off when the bell button is pressed, and of course, when the alarm spring runs down. Prior to disassembly, the alarm functioned perfectly. Any thoughts on what has been assembled incorrectly and how to repair?

i've just had a watch back from my watchmaker which had this exact same problem (in the sense that that was the problem I sent the watch to the watchmaker for) - the fix involved a replacement part (it's down as 'alarm wheel' on the note he wrote as to what was done) and it's working fine now .. If you'd like to contact, especially if you're in Europe, the website is http://sdemanuele.com The guy is very reliable, charges reasonably and does export orders. You can mention my name (Dave Alan Caruana) if you'd like a reference.

It can be a few things and it is hard to put your finger on the one but it can be as daft as a screw not tightened down properly or a part not fitted correct, it normally means a strip down, even how the hands are put on can affect the alarm.
