Gold tone plating Questions..
« on: January 12, 2012, 06:32:19 AM »
Could someone please give me a definitive answer on whether it is practical to plate Stainless Steel case parts (bezel, crowns, etc) as a DIY project?

Is there someone I could send it to?

Would a standard layer of plated gold-tone (whatever material/method it uses) be durable and long lasting?

Has anyone you know ever done so? (pics would be nice).

I am thinking of a crazy mod (two-toned, of course), but I have tried simple gold plating with varying results. I need something really good.

Ideas?

Sorry thanapa no solution here, if anyone with the knowledge chimes in it would be handy to know how to remove old gold plate too so the plating can be re-done.  I am looking for a chemical process ideally.

My pleasure.
Please let us know here if gold plating on stainless steel is doable or not. I know it's usually on brass so I'm curious.
