Do you know, I remember everything about the morning that this watch was posted on the Trade Forum?  I remember the weather, where the rest of the family was, everything.  It's like a 3D snapshot.  "Holy God, honey!  This guy just posted a 6105 diver for EIGHTY BUCKS!"

I remember it well also, i had been out of the house, came back in switched the pc on, checked the TF and bloody hell a 8000 for $85 !! so i contacted the seller knowing in my heart i had no chance as it would of been snapped up already but............and Steve came back with if you want it it is yours, I hesitated for 1000th of a second before replying with shaky fingers and the rest is history as they say and it still one of my favourite/specials/keepers, i did replace the bezel with a NOS and the crown and i love it :)

8L35-0010 is still running at +2 s/d!

8L35-0010 Time Keeping

I have a minor conundrum: I have to travel to California for the week of January 22, which means a change from GMT-5 to GMT-8. Should I:

  • Keep wearing the watch as I normally would without resetting the time (subtracting 3 isn't that hard).
  • Reset the time to GMT-8, preserving the current error, e.g. if the watch is 20 seconds ahead of actual time, make sure to set it accordingly.
  • Wear an additional watch set to GMT-8.

I'm leaning toward option 1. What do you think?

Best,
Myles

After winding up and leaving in the watch box for 24hrs I'm at +11s.

Day 4 and it's -4 seconds off from http://time.is as of 9:45 this morning.  Was -10 seconds at midnight on Jan. 1st, so it has gained 6 seconds since then.

I've been updating over the past few days.  I'm happy to see the rate is somewhat consistent.  The watch gets anywhere from 10-16hrs of wrist time a day.  I'll be switching time zone a couple of times during the month but it doesn't hack so I'll change to the correct time and record how many minutes I adjusted to keep track.

Haven't had a chance to post on this thread yet, but I decided to give the challenge a try, though I'm not sure I can hold out with only one watch for an entire month....madness I tell ya!

Anyway, wearing my '72 6105-8119, and so far it's -23 sec total...not bad I think.

This is the one, but it's on a super oyster now

Fourth day and +1 overall compared to NIST ITS.

I purchased this SKX009 off the forum just over two years ago and it's my daily beater. It is behaving very much the same as when I timed it for a month last March. It seems to have a +/- rhythm, not simply gaining .25 seconds per day.

my 6309 started out at -21 seconds behind indicated time on the computer.  It dropped -5 seconds behind that to -26 seconds, now has come back up +2 seconds, therefore a total loss of -4 seconds total over the starting time.  Not bad for an old 6309!
