Someone here had that beautiful GS, I can't wait to see the official report and list when it all
finished and see if the GS took it home, that's where the safe money is ;)

Great results, Dahasco!  You up for another month with the same watch?  Only 28 days in Feb.
JUST KIDDING, I'm very ready to wear something else!

Hi Tony,

Thank you for proposing the January 2012 watch challenge.  It was fun, and a great way to really get to know a particular watch.

I just saw this January challenge, and it was really fun and informative, and yes, you get to know a particular timepiece very well. I missed this opportunity, sorry. We should do this again sometime in the near future.

Myles, I also borrowed your very unique excel/spread sheet accuracy program. It is very well organized and done! Thanks a lot  :great: .

Well, that went by quite fast didn't it? Not fast enough for some of you who no doubt had to use two wrists I bet.
I ended off January the same as I started, 0 sec. Although I'm going to bed a bit early, so I'll presume nothing drastic happens to my poor old sxk in the next half hour.

Night,

0 sec???  :-\ :a102: :-\ Wow! That's a crazy accuracy! I had a military modded SKX173, after wearing on my wrist 24/7 for 5 weeks, it lost total -1 second! I love the 7S26 movements very much since then. And that's why I always try my very best to wear my watches, either Auto or Quartz, 24/7 to obtain maximum accuracy.

Awesome, Curt!  I took my SKX171 off at 6:30 last night and it had gained a total of +3 seconds since I last set it on Dec. 8 (it fluctuated a few seconds per day, but seemed to gravitate towards the time it was originally set to).  Now I'm letting it wind down for the first time since I've owned it, and am wearing my quartz SBBN007.

This is my daily beater, so I'm used to how it behaves. It certainly didn't stay at 0 seconds throughout January though, it usually lost about 4 seconds while on wrist and then gained it back while off. It was a pretty tight plus/minus except for one night I left it face down and it gained 7 seconds overnight!

I think it's a great movement for the price. I'm very happy with my 009, which I purchased from a forum member two years ago.

I am going with the 8000 for the month and in all honesty no great hardship :)

I failed miserably in this challenge. Wore my 6139 for few hours on the weekends.  :-[

Anyhow, the GS SBGA011 performs very well by gaining 3 seconds/month. That makes it roughly +0.1 second/day which is much better than the factory spec of 1 second/day.

Lesson learnt. Never promise to wear just 1 watch for a month.

Regards,
Indera

My update - it looks like this 31 yr old workhorse is sitting at an almost metronomical +21 seconds a day.  The last day was a short one for me since I started it in PST and ended it in EST so it gained 3 less seconds on the day.  I may open it up to regulate at the end of the month to see if I can get it closer to 0.

As promised, I opened 'er up and gave it a slight nudge to slow it down.  It's been running a very consistent +4 to +6 second a day and have less variation based on wrist time.  I'm thinking I'll leave it as is instead of gambling on making it better.  This 6309 is running very nice considering its 31-yr age...
